Even marginally knowledgeable photographers understand the significance of this, and this item fulfills that need. However, it is extremely bulky. The 55mm attachment is derived with a stepdown ring from the hood's native 67mm non-threaded opening, and the hood tapers even beyond this 67mm radius to form a squared-off shape roughly four inches across. The sheer bulk obviously keeps the sun of the lens very well, but is clumsy, disproportionate on small lenses, and plain awkward. I cannot set my small Sony SLR down with this hood attached. Hence, I would only recommend this product if manufacturer hoods either are not available or are prohibitively expensive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, with some problems *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2010* this is a good product, but if you have a wide angle camera, you will have to zoom in to stop it from cutting off since its a square. also, it is slightly off center because the thumb locking screw(the tighter the more off-center). I do love the way that it adjusts the light. overall a good product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for medium format lenses *by R***. on Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2016* I recently purchased this lens hood for my Pentax-A 55mm and 75mm medium format lenses and it works great without any vignetting. I did buy a second 58-67mm step up adapter ring simply for the convenience of swapping the hood quickly. The only minor problem I had was the rubber ring protruded a bit so I removed it and trimmed about 2mm off of it, end of problem. A solid silicon ring would have been better but I'm probably asking to much. One reviewer mentioned that if you tighten the thumb screw to much it would cant, however I did over tighten it and it stayed on center and you really don't have to make it bar tight.
