Drywall anchors would be good if you didn't. These aren't incredibly overweight but can get heavy when they are full of soil and have water in them. Make sure you get at least 20lb wall anchors. And I wouldn't make a habit of filling up the basin. It attracts insects like gnats and fruit flies. Ip try to lightly water every other day or 2. Just enough to saturate the soil, then let it dry. **Q: Can i see the water level of the reservoir with out lifting the plant?** A: No. But you can easily just lift the black part where the plant is if you wanna check the water reservoir. **Q: Does the self watering mechanism really work?** A: Yes, it works well. I keep herbs in mine and I dont have to remember to water as often. As long as you keep water in the base the plant will get the water, and I only check the base every week or two **Q: What are the hooks for?** A: The back of these pots are flat so they fit flush with a wall or screen. They look very cute and not super cheap. I didn't use the self watering feature as the plants I put in it don't need that much water. But having the pot that the plant actually sits in and then the pot that is mounted on that wall is great. It allows my plants to properly drain and gives me access to the plants roots if I need it. I'm very impressed with how well these worked for the price point they're at. It was a great way to add a little life into our home and my home office. Easy to use and clean design. I did wind up with one of the inserts broken. I contacted the seller and they were very kind and helpful in resolving my issue. I didn't think to count how many came in the package. It turns out that they send an extra insert, so if you find one that is broken, you have an extra one already. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Works alright, some design flaws, and a little flimsy *by C***K on Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2022* I am growing some herbs in these things, and I do have some complaints after a full season.They aren't as pretty as you might be hoping. They are just cheap, white plastic (I hope they are actually UV resistant...) and you have to really try to strategically place them right to keep them from looking cheap and ugly. They also don't feel all that strong. The single-screw mount could easily fail, and in a heavier wind they likely could get knocked or broken off the screw. So far, they've just been pushed around a little and the mount has held up, but we haven't had any strong winds yet this season.They have no drainage. I realize that the whole point is that they hold water and wick it up using the rope, but without ANY drainage, heavy watering will fill the entire thing with water and kill your plant. I had to drill a small drainage hole on the side of each one, just below the bottom line of the inner plant pot liner, to prevent the soil from getting drowned. The inserts also don't fit really easily into the outer pot. It can be hard to get them to properly sit in the pot and it gets bumped out of place and looks awkward pretty easily.Also, the water reservoir is not all that large. It helps extend time between waterings slightly during dry months, maybe let's you skip a day once in a while, but that's it. The pots are also quite small and not appropriate for many herbs with deeper root systems. The pots would probably work great for dense flowers with small roots, like petunias.Based on the design weaknesses, I have a feeling that these are really meant to be used indoors, even though the listing specifically mentions outdoor use. I doubt they will hold up to outdoor use for more than a couple years.Finally, the price... I don't really regret buying them, but the price is pretty steep for something that probably cost the manufacturer almost nothing to produce. It's just some molded plastic and a short piece of rope.
