Another great offering of clean Top 40 chart-toppers, even if it is too late

*by Z***Z on Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2015*

NOW continues to deliver a good mix of clean/radio edit Top 40 radio-fodder with their 54th offering, even if it does come too late and they double-dip on a song. By the time Now 54 released on May the 4th (May the 4th be with you), most of the tracks already feel old. As a DJ, I need to stay on top of current and what's next chart-toppers, and I depend on the NOW series to deliver clean hits in a timely manner or to backfill what I haven't had to obtain already.Current chart-toppers 'Blank Space' and 'Shut Up and Dance' are welcome here (even though NOW really did give us "What's Next!" on Now 53 because the latter had already been included!), in addition to 'GDFR' and 'Somebody', but it's interesting to see Nick Jonas' 'Jealous' included when his latest single 'Chains' has all but pushed Jealous off the charts. The same is true of Fall Out Boy's 'Centuries' and Ariana Grande's 'One Last Time' - both artists have moved on to a new radio single weeks ago. Maroon 5's 'Sugar' is still getting play, and 'Nobody Love', 'I Lived', 'Heartbeat Song' and 'Night Changes' still don't feel played-out, but the electronica offerings ('Prayer in C' and 'Outside') have been out for months. Granted, the pop scene is usually behind in adopting the latest electronica hits, but these could have been on Now 53 and still felt relatively fresh.I'm not yet familiar with Sam Hunt, but 'Take Your Time' is a good mesh of country feeling with pop mentality. The NOW What's Next offerings aren't as memorable as they have been, but they are decent. The standout seems to be 'All Of You' by Betty Who, but everything besides Elijah Blake's 'I Just Wanna...' feel right. Elijah Blake's song is so edited it's almost silent, and makes me wonder why it was included over something like Manika's 'B.Y.O.Bugatti' or Omi's 'Cheerleader'.Overall, here is another safe, fun offering but it does come too late. Also, I really wish NOW would stop double-dipping on songs from earlier offerings and instead use what space they have for more music.

    It's a hit!

Fantastic compilation. You really cannot go wrong with the "Now" compilations. I have been buying them for decades ... first in the Middle East. then in England and now here in the US. Great to get the "radio" hits on a disc. CD arrived quickly and well packaged.

A great collection of the latest NOW music from late 2014 through first half of 2015. It is great I get a FREE copy in my Amazon.com Music account so I am very satisfied and happy. Can't wait till NOW 55 comes out for sale. Thanks! Also about $2 cheaper on Amazon than at Walmart.
