You can remove the diffuser for a brighter (but with more glare) light. I do have issues with this lamp though. One is that the charging plug is proprietary barrel. Why couldn't they have just used usb? If you lose this charging cord, you cannot use this again.So if you're camping and you misplace this little cord somewhere, you are without light. Can't just use another common usb. Another issue is the solar charging cord plug falls out way to easily, so its not charging. The solar panel charges very slowly and barely illuminates the charging indicator on the top in full sun. Yes, there is a charging indicator on the top of the lamp that you can make out as a red dot under the blue plastic but only when plugged into the AC usb charger cord.---Update: Light does not last nearly as long as it did before. It starts to dim after a couple hours and then shuts off completely. Thats with 8 months of use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good buy for camping or emergency light - solar powered. *by L***Y on November 18, 2018* Since it is not camping weather in Indiana, I have tried this light around the house. It is now in a southern facing bedroom window for use as an emergency light.Pros: Simply plug in the solar charger after facing it toward the sunshine, let it charge and use it. After charging, I left it on and it ran full brightness for about 4.5 hours on a charge. I downloaded a lux (light) meter and tested it at 1 meter inside a dark room and it averaged 17 Lux (17 Lumens). This is bright enough to light a camper but not a whole campsite. For the cost, it is a good buy and I expect to use it a lot when camping and boating season returns. In the winter, it is a handy emergency light with attachments to hang it up. Hanging it on my kitchen chandelier provided enough light to use the kitchen during a power outage. A built-in SOS light signal could be of value for boating or wilderness trekking but I do not know that I have a use for it.Cons: The on/off switch is below the surface (covered to be waterproof?) so it takes a fingernail to turn it on/off.Link to this light: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GFHJ8NS ### ⭐⭐⭐ Bright, cheaply made, barrel charging port *by J***N on December 27, 2018* This light feels very cheap and poorly made. The plastic is very thin and bendable, and the charging port cover on mine doesn't even fit properly.The worst part for me is that the solar panel and the bulb use a barrel connector for the charging port. You also get a cable to convert from USB to the barrel connector. This means that the solar panel cannot be used with anything else, and the light can only be charged using the solar panel or the included USB cable. I'm not so worried about losing the cable or the solar panel, because this light is pretty affordable. I just don't like the idea of having to carry yet another cable in my kit.Aside from all of that, the light is easy to use. Press the button to cycle between flashing and continuous light modes. I wish these lights would have a more direct way to trigger each mode. It's annoying to fumble with these lights in the dark only to get a flash light in your eyes. I would have like a short press to turn on the light and a long press to turn on the blinking mode.I'm going to pack this into our emergency kit at home.
