The one I pulled out of this bag had very sharp Jagged edges so I threw that one away and got one that was round but no luck he wasn't biting. Another thing is this is a very small bag and I thought for the price it just isn't worth it.Skip and buy something else! ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars Mixed review *by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2014* I assembled the canine testing team: Hunter, a Golden Retriever of mature years and Boston, a middle aged lab/terrier/who-knows-whatelse. Both members of the team are enthusiastic food tasters and frequently seek out additional opportunities to practice their craft. I began by offering them each a treat just as it came out of the package. Both dogs took the treats but were very hesitant about them. Boston spit his out of his mouth after a couple of minutes and walked away. As I watched Hunter attempt to chew on his treat I became concerned that he would attempt to swallow it whole since the treat was too hard for him to chew. Ultimately I took the treat away from him, and noted that despite his best efforts this large dog had only managed to put a couple of small dents in the still very had treat.A few days later I again assembled the team and offered them treats that I had microwaved for a little over a minute. The treats had changed from their very hard state (very reminiscent in size, shape and density to a domino) to much larger foamy items. Both dogs were curious about what I had in my hands as I carefully picked up the very warm treats and blew on them to cool them off. I offered the first treat to Boston who reluctantly took it, and then dropped it, completely uninterested. The only other time I had seen him so disinterested in any food item was when he tried a raw carrot. Hunter took the treat he was offered and chewed on it for one or two minutes. When he finished he took charge of the one Boston had rejected and ate that one as well.As other reviewers had mentioned these are not an inexpensive treat. I would never again offer these treats without microwaving them as I am very concerned about how hard the pieces are and the size, my Golden could very easily attempt to swallow this whole and would probably choke on it. When I microwaved the treats (for less than the suggested time) they were quite hot when I took them out of the microwave, too hot for me to hold comfortably and too hot for the dogs to have in their mouths. Between the need to microwave and to wait for the treats to cool these treats are a bit inconvenient for the human. When I consider this inconvenience, added to the cost and the total rejection of the product by one of the dogs I have decided not to purchase this product again. I get much more enthusiasm, for a lower cost from a variety of readily available treats that require much less effort on my part. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars 2 Ways to Feed, 2 Reactions *by J***P on Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2014* I like the simple ingredients in these treats, milk and lime juice. Fewer ingredients means fewer chances of getting something bad.These claim that they can be given to a dog the way they come out of the package for a hard chew or nuke them in the microwave for a "soft chew."I was a little apprehensive when I pulled the first one out of the bag. They are about the size and hardness of a domino, with sharp corners. I had to entice my dog to try it. He sniffed a few times, then started playing with it. He tossed it up in the air and caught it. Put a few teeth marks in it. Left it alone for awhile, then tossed it and played with it a little more before abandoning it. He has good, strong teeth, and likes to crunch things, but he never even broke off a small bit of it.That would all be fine except that I was afraid he would swallow it and cause damage. He does tend to gulp things, and at ~60 pounds, he could swallow this in one gulp. There is no way I'd give one to him without closely supervising, and even then, I was nervous.So I tried nuking one for one minute. It did expand into a big rectaularish blob, looked like Styrofoam. I let it cool a bit, and then showed it to him.It was pretty funny to watch. He backed away from it as though it were an alien landing from an undiscovered planet. He slinked up to it, backed away again. After a couple of minutes of this, he licked it, then held it in his paws and started crunching on it. It took him a few minutes to eat the whole thing, and then he cleaned up the crumbs he left on the carpet.I've given him a couple more, nuked, and he has had no stomach upset because of them. He really enjoys them now that he has recovered from his alien fear.So, while I really like these for him once they have been nuked, I'll never again try to give him an un-microwaved one.
