First, let me just say how I love that it's bright pink. So much fun!When looking for a curler, I look for something that does not have any springs. You really want to be able to control the movement of anything near your eye. This curler allows you to be completely in control by offering a fully manual system. Another great feature is the padded finger rests. It might not seem like a big deal, but having that little bit of extra padding really helps the process. Plus it feels better than cold metal pressing into your skin.As for the curling pad itself, I really like that the rubber isn't flimsy. There is a perfect amount of resistance to allow for a great curl. It's easy to pop out and clean the pads too.Onto the perks, what sold me on this product is all of the extra curling pads included in this kit. It really stinks when you find a great eyelash curler that you love to use, but it only comes with one replacement pad. After that, you either have to purchase a whole new kit or you have to scour the shelves/internet for replacement pads only to find they don't really sell them. One time, I purchased replacement pads for a curler I couldn't let go of and wouldn't you know, the pads didn't fit. I had to cut them down each time. I received this item in the beginning of March. So it's been about 2 months. I've attached pictures of the state of the kit as it is now.First of all those little rubber things in the fingers had to go. I admit I have big fingers, but I am not sure what fingers those were designed for or what the purpose of those things are but they were removed after the second use.As for the guard ... I was really excited about this. As someone who occasionally gets mascara on my perfectly make-uped eye, it was very appealing. However, it is very awkward to use and didn't really offer that much protection. Unless you put your makeup on while jumping or maybe on a very bumpy road??? Maybe you're a very aggressive mascara applier??? Either way, I kept in my makeup bag because it doesn't take up that much room, but after a week or so some of the teeth on the guard snapped off. I never understood the purpose of the teeth, but none-the-less they snapped off.Now lets talk about the curler. Beside the fact that it doesn't really curl my eyelashes (I have to press down pretty hard to get a curl), the pink coating on the curler is chipping away. I have pictures of this in the comments. I was particularly drawn to this curler because it came with so many replacement pads. I often have to replace them because over time the pads start to split where you press and causes your eyelashes to look funky. I usually pick up a cheap eyelash curler at Target/CVS/Walgreens/etc. for around $3-$4 that comes with a replacement pad or two. So, given the rave reviews (mostly from people who received the product for free or a discount for their "honest reviews"), I figured I easily got my moneys worth. Nope. This has been the most frustrating eyelash curler I have ever owned. I put makeup on pretty much everyday and have been putting makeup on almost everyday for the past 3 years, and using eyelash curlers for at least 10 years now,The little brush that came with it was really good, and I like that.I have given the curler ample time to figure out the quirks or how to make everything work, but I just can't. They don't really curl my lashes. I've had the curler for about 2 months and have had to replace the pads twice, and each pad has been just as awful. After years of buying eyelash curlers (I have over 20 in a drawer) I finally found one that works. It's almost too good to believe. The usual "pinch free" promise is true! This curler fits over the entire eyelid and does not grab skin or stray bottom lashes. I have very sparse and stick straight lashes (my lashes went south after I turned 50) and I almost gave up on ever seeing them again...but this curler popped them right up! Add a coat of mascara and...there they were! Lashes again!So, for that reason alone I would give the product 5 stars, but the reason I am writing a review (which I rarely do) is because of the "kit" that was included at no extra charge. Usually companies insert 1 extra curler pad, which I inevitably lose anyway. But this product came with EIGHT. Not only generous, but in a bag so I can put aside and NOT lose!They also included an eyebrow brush/comb. I haven't used this yet, but it is nice to know that it's there when I want it, and it was FREE!My FAVORITE extra tool is the MASCARA LASH GUARD. It is easy to use and finally gives me a way to put on mascara and not worry about cleaning up stray mascara after, which often messed up my make up.
