I've been a spoon carver for a very long time and I've owned my share of expensive custom carving knives and aside from a few nuances, I find it increasingly difficult to justify spending hundreds of dollars on carving knives when a much cheaper knife works as well or even better. I've been using another brand for a long time and really don't have a complaint, but when I first tried a Morakniv hook knife, I was immediately struck by the quality of the materials used, the edge sharpness retention and the price. The Swedish mfg hit a homerun with this product. My only complaint is my hands are large and because I'm old, I have arthritis so the smaller handle is difficult to hold, but the knife is otherwise so well made, the small handle size is lost when measured against everything Morakniv excels at.
