He was sitting in a booth for the Cataros Whitetail Ranch, ignored by all the adults who either had never read his book or who had read his book and were too awestruck to thank him for his service. He was sitting there drawing cat whiskers on kids faces with a sharpie and the kids were having a ball. It was awesome the way he paid attention to each child. We did shake his hand and thank him for his service, but like the others I was too awestruck to do anything but babble inane pleasantries that probably bored Chris to tears. But I did meet him, I shook his hand, and I will never forget him. A month or so later he was killed. My entire family was grief stricken, we had seem him barely a month before. His funeral was spectacular, Texas did him proud. Taya was so strong, so alone. I went back and read his book again and then yet again. Every time I read it I get something new, every time I cry like a baby. If you want to KNOW what our soldiers do, what the have to endure, and what they give up at home to defend this nation and our beliefs, this is a must read book. Chris was a true American hero. It is not very often in life that one gets to actually meet a hero, but I was blessed to have had that opportunity. Taya is no less a hero, she was the strength behind Chris that made him what he was. America can not do enough for Chris and his family, we owe them all more than we can repay. Consider donating to any cause that helps the families of our fallen heros. Buying this book is one way to make that donation. But look for others, American's can not do enough for our soldiers and their families. See a soldier in a restaurant, buy their meal. Chris was not the first to die, and I doubt he will be the last. Just remember what they do for us and do whatever little things you can for them. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars This is a very short read. All stories are good. *by L***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2015* I read American Sniper this past week, saw the movie last night (and cried at the end) and have been devouring the Internet to learn more about Chris Kyle since. This book had many good stories and insights not seen in Chris's book. Unfortunately I would guess that 80% of the content of this book already existed in various articles and stories in the Internet. So out of 70 pages, only perhaps 15 of them had something that I had not already read. The author took what seems like half the book from his own magazine articles in D Magazine. You can read them on line. I don't want to sound too critical because you can tell the author really thinks the world of Chris and wants us to see that too. I did.
