Now the truck did have a backup alarm but it must have been damaged or something because it hardly made sound. After that happened I was thinking of what kind of backup alarm would get folk's attention since people seem to ignore the standard ones since they hear them so often and I remembered hearing one on a compactor at the dump when I go. I thought it was broken until I found this one and it makes people stop since it is such a unique sound. The unit is rather large compared to the pancake one it replaced so size could be an issue and it has three wires, You hook the yellow and red together for 97db and don't use the yellow wire at all for the full 107db which seems odd because it seems like it should be the other way. All in all I love it and I think it will last a long time! It's quite clear the alarm is the best Shenzhen has to offer in Chinesium white noise back up alarms, but I can't complain for the price considering the mainstream option is $100. The real test will be if it will hold up to the elements and professional driving environments. I'm very happy that these white noise alarms are OSHA compliant, and I think more industrial vehicles need to be outfitted with these instead of beepers ... All the science says these are better!
