We are both avid Dr.Who fans and I already had the $20 sonic screwdriver, so I wanted to get her something different. Found it cheaper here than the official BBC site, and I saw the reviews about how the cover was flat unlike the show. Knowing this, I still thought that for under $20 this was still a great deal for a prop that actually had a practical function.The printing on the front is very convincing that there are ridges, and I kept running my fingers over the cover to convince myself that they weren't there. If you aren't too concerned with having a perfect replica and don't care to spend lots of money, this is a pretty good option. The cover is a cardboard hardback with a printed overlay that replicates the look (but not the feel) of River Song's journal. The endpapers are plain white; the journal sheets are around 22-pound bond paper, bright white with dark gray ruled lines (23 lines per page, 5/32" or 8 mm separation).The dimensions of the cover are 8" × 5" × 7/8" (20.3 cm × 12.7 cm × 0.22 cm). The dimensions of the journal pages are 7-3/4" × 4-3/4" (19.7 cm × 12.1 cm); subtract about 1/2" (1.3 cm) from the width that's too close to the binding to use usable.The binding is not exceptionally sturdy (the top half of first journal page in my copy is detached from the binding), but seems typical of a journal of this type and price. It will not lie flat.The price for this item is comparable to a moleskin journal of the same dimensions, but a moleskin will lie flat and usually have better quality binding and paper.
