A lot of concerns of the wood sagging overtime, so my design only used 2.5 feet. Avoiding any warping, sagging on the long run.But bare in mind that, wood deforming overtime is dependent on the length of wood (the longer the cuts, the more It’ll deform). Completely not because of the louver system. I’m sure it can handle any lightweight composites if you avoid wood. I used cedar that’s has been kiln dried so the moisture content is 3-5% so it’s very lightweight. I also believe that because the louver system is plastic, it is quite tolerant and flexible against the free play between fastening the louvers to each other. I will update on how it looks after a year or two being baked by the sun in Southern California. In addition, I would like to point out that this product does NOT contain wooden boards / slats. **Q: What is the installed spacing of the brackets?** A: Every 3 1/2 inches **Q: what would the assembled hight be** A: The assembled height of one package from top to bottom when they are closed would be approximately 40 inches. **Q: Can use horizontally for making ceiling?** A: Don't see why not.
