I have 2 cars, I could insert the pump hose(s) in the pipe going into the transmission oil tank only 1 inch after which the pipe gradually narrowed so I could not use the pump on any of the 2 cars. **Q: Can it be used for potable water?** A: Biggest issue I see is the grease/oil they use inside it. It feels like vasoline, but they might have used something else that isn't food grade/you wouldn't want in your water. I'd suggest washing it with a dish soap de-greaser, then sanitizing it completely, and lubricate it lightly with a food safe oil (coconut, vegetable oil, etc). Even then you're doing it at your own risk. I would consider this for pumping water that will later be filtered and/or treated and not pumping post-treated/filtered water. For that consider one of those hand pumps for water jugs they use on watercoolers (3/5gal). **Q: Has anyone used this to fill differentials? How did that work out?** A: After looking at some options I went with some $5 option from a local auto parts store for my differential and transfer case. I knew that I wanted a model that had the "shark bite" tube holders to ensure the tubes did not pop out during operation. With my test of pumping water, the tubes remained in place firmly. Always be sure to push them into the holders until you can no longer do so. There were no leaks. The gravity pull only works if the liquid you are pumping out is higher than 3 feet. Otherwise, you'll be manually pumping the entire time. Excellent pump. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works Great, Just a Little Slow *by G***H on September 20, 2025* Amazing price and worked right out of the package. Is slow transferring fluids but transfers them reliably none the less. Do be careful afterwards as if there's any fluid left in the tube it will follow gravity and leak back out. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Marine Transfer pump works great with modifications *by L***Y on June 10, 2025* I love this pump for transferring lower unit fluid into my 2018 Yamaha F150LB. It makes it so much easier to refill the lower unit without fluids leaking all over everything. It did have a couple of issues but I was able to resolve them. The first issue was that the 8 mm connection that fit my Yamaha outboard was too big in diameter to go into the recessed area where plug was located and would not seal so I removed the fitting I used on my Suzuki and swapped the one on this pump with that one. Also the gallon tube came out and fell in the gallon of lower unit fluid so I glued it in.
