Stand up by itself Press the command key, it will tilt forward, and press the key again, it will stand up instantly and keep balance by itself. Obstacle-Avoidance Tumbller will avoid obstacles ahead of it automatically with the ultrasonic sensors on the platform by sending waves and calculating the distance. Keep your car away from collision and enjoy the fun. Auto-follow If there is an obstacle in front, Tumbller will move forward or backward with the obstacle. If there is an obstacle on the left or right side, Tumbller will turn left or right with obstacle. Glowing Press the command key, Tumbller will light up one light effect.Press it again, it will switch to another one. There are six light effects and you can switch according to your preferences. The issues to be aware of when using Tumbller The screw on the coupling might get loose after long-time working, please pay attention to lock it tight. When DIY Control on the App, the message to make Tumbller turn right is "i" instead of "r". We wrote "r" in our paper manual. When assembling the expansion board, if you find the infrared sensors on the sides are bent, please twist it a bit and make sure it stands up vertically on the board so it can work properly. When you pick up the Tumbller vertically, the wheel will still rotate. After tilting the Tumbler ±27º, the rotation will stop. Tumbller can’t be used in places where the sunshine or light is too bright, because the strong brightness will affect the sensor. The LED will flash red when the battery is running out of power. The USB interface is only used for burning program. When burning program, please turn off the battery to prevent interference. The parts are clean and assembly is straightforward using nothing more than the included paper manual and screwdriver. In fact, it took longer to charge the battery than it did to assemble the Tumbller. When I finally turned it on, it stood upright as promised. Some of the screws and parts are quite small so manual dexterity is required and you should work carefully over a table or bench. Elegoo thoughtfully provides a small number of extras in case of loss during assembly. The one complaint I have is the difficulty of finding the software. The Elegoo website is largely devoted to their 3D printers with only the vaguest links to their robot cars. It required many start-over attempts plus some imaginative Google queries before I was finally able to track down what I *hope* is the github package, and I have no assurance that the sources thus obtained are what's actually running in the Arduino Nano. Getting the source code is important to me because I want to understand the self-balancing algorithm and I also hope to devise some sort of radio control other than the smartphone app provided. One possibility is replacing the Nano with a Raspberry Pi Pico W or some other microcontroller that is WiFi capable. This is certainly going to be $90 worth of fun! Update: I finally obtained the Arduino source code for the Tumbller but was unable to get it to work due to a certain section of code which caused the Nano to reset. As a last resort I sent an inquiry to Elegoo support. Rather to my surprise, I got a reply indicating the technical solution.
