Our usage is simply in our kitchen.** A: The life of a filter is determined by the concentration of the contaminant, the relative humidity and the volume of air cleaned. Unfortunately there is no indicator light on the filter that tells you when it is ready to be replaced. Experience with one Can-Filter will give you an expectation for future Can-Filters in your particular application. **Q: Is this shipped in plain box?** A: Yes **Q: This fan is compatible in a scrubber air filter set up?** A: Can fan shapes fit, I used a hyper fan 6in worked goon on a 5x9 area **Q: is it refillable?** A: Yes it is refillable and it actually works better after refill because you can buy higher quality carbon pellets then they use from the factory. It is messy to do is the only downside. The carbon pellets you have to buy in bulk 50lb bags and then wash them as they are covered in black dust from shipping. I recommend using a hose outside with a pasta strainer. Black water will pour out of them for minutes. Wait until the water is clear. This takes forever as you need about 20 lbs of washed pellets. After you wash and dry them you have to open the lid of the filter. They purposely make the screws cheap and strip to discourage you. Be careful the aluminum is sharp. Dump the old pellets out and throw them away or compost them. Next pour a layer of pellets into the now empty filter. The high tech equipment they mention can be replicated with a wooded spoon or anything thing with a flat end. Just pack the carbon pellets down all the way in a circle. Pour another layer and repeat until it is full. You can get it packed just as tight as when it came from the factory. The air channel nonsense is just them not wanting you to know that you can fill it for 1/4 the price of a new one. The trick is using the same size pellets. So I recommend opening it first and measuring what is in it. If you don't have lots of time and patience just paying Canfan is probably better. If you want to save cash and have the time then refilling is the way to go. Plus you don't have to dispose of some giant carbon filter.
