I keep one in each car as a back-up to my mobile rig. ### ⭐⭐ Programming *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2019* Could not program radio ### ⭐⭐⭐ Poorly documented and clunky *by R***D on Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2019* This is a popular radio. It's cheap. It's pretty well-made for the money. But the instruction manual for the radio is written in pidgin English and the is NO DOCUMENTATION AT ALL for the programming software. The programming software itself is a little "clunky", with "non-standard" processes that can be confusing. Although I'm a licensed ham with DMR programming experience, I did encounter some programming problems. The radio "bricked" on the first programming attempt, requiring me to re-flash its firmware (without instructions). Programming issues remained, however. It took me hours spent consulting YOUTUBE videos, DMR websites, social media, and other hams to solve these problems. The DMR ID database will not import all users from RadioID - just not enough memory in the radio to get it done. Although the AnyTone 878 is more expensive, it's still pretty cheap compared to most ham radios. I recommend that you save yourself a lot of trouble and get the AnyTone instead of the TYT MD-380.
