So the only difference is the thickness of the strings. **Q: Can these be used in drop b on a les paul style guitar** A: I've used them drop c on my les paul and not too bad **Q: Will these work on an acoustic guitar** A: I always use Ernie Ball .009 -.042 on my acoustic as I like light strings and they keep a good tone for weeks. **Q: I understand only the 4th, 5th and 6th are coated. The plain strings are the same as a normal SS pack. Is that right?** A: Hi, These aren't coated strings. They are made of cobalt which reacts with the pickups a bit more to increase output. The 4th, 5th and 6th strings are made with cobalt but the plains are standard ernie ball plains.
