The trick is to roll your fondant out thin ( I use a 5 on my pasta roller) and let soft fondant dry up a little before cutting. Smear a little shortening on the cutters and you will get great looking letters.

I roll out my gumpaste very thin, rub the surface with a touch of a 50/50 mix of powdered sugar and cornstarch, then let it sit for a few minutes to "surface dry" before cutting. If I don't do this, it's difficult to "tap it" out of the cutter. My writing with frosting is pretty awful so these help me to not ruin my cakes by writing on them free hand!

These cutters are easy to use and look fantastic. The letters are small but sharp and detailed which is hard to find in letter cutters. So happy I found the Alphabet cutters! They make your writting look so professional. I spread the fondant thin and cut 2-3 strips, let sit uncovered for a about 15 minutes, spray a little Pam non stick spray on the letters I'm going to use, tap the strips to remove as much as posible, wipe off excess, cut your letters and tap off. They come off so easy and complete!!!
