I was very surprised that he did not get a best actor Oscar nomination for this film though Kate Winslet got best actress nomination at the time. This film is absolutely amazing I will say, that you must pay attention to what is really happening because I had to watch this movie twice, (a while back when it first came out in 2005), in order to understand what was going on. But you must watch this very carefully because things do jump around a little bit. But it is indeed one of my favorite movies especially one of my favorite Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet films as I am fans of both of these wonderful actors. The storyline goes that Jim Carrey is Brokenhearted because his girlfriend broke up with him who is Kate Winslet. He tries to reconnect with her, and realizes she has no idea who he is. He finds out that she had her memory erased and doesn't have any memory of him whatsoever. Not only did this break his heart but it caused him so much despair that he impulsively decided to do the same exact thing. So he goes to a company where they specialize in erasing people's memories of those they loved and cared about whether they passed on or had a broken heart from a breakup. And throughout the whole memory erasing Jim Carrey is inside of his mind trying to keep the memories that he has with Kate Winslet. As he is seeing everything being erased before his eyes he's realizing he needs to try to keep her in his mind as much as he can. So he spends the movie, taking her with him and running away from the people trying to erase his memory. This is indeed one of my favorite movies it is also quite heartbreaking and a little sad but it's also a strong message to tell people no matter how much someone breaks your heart or suffering the loss of someone in any way, you need to keep the memories of that person and understand that they were in your life for a reason and also understand that no matter how painful it may be to think of this individual, always focus on the positive memories which is what Jim Carrey was trying to do in the film. He wanted to keep the positive memories that he had with her. My favorite line is when he says, "Please let me keep this memory, just this one memory." If you notice he wasn't focusing so much on the negative though the negative did try to creep in every so often but he was trying to keep the happy memories and that is what's important in life. Make sure you keep the happy memories and disregard the negative ones. Not only are the happy memories worth keeping, but it helps you heal better from the pain and it also releases a lot of positive energy and forgiveness because forgiveness helps you move forward.
