It is the small door with the silver button and silver strip on it. Your SSD slides directly in there. **Q: can this be used to install a DVD/ bluray player removed from a laptop?** A: It will depend on the size of the optical drive. First, you will have to remove the front cover from the driver or it will not fit in the bay. Most optical drives are wider than standard 3.5" drives and will not fit in the adapter bay. It probably will not work mechanically, even though it would work electronically. The 2 bays are 2.5 inches and 3.5 inches wide respectively so there is no way to fit a 5.25 inch optical drive into the bay. After building it into a Coolermaster M-ATX case (using the necessary adapters to allow for use with a standard ATX PSU) I wanted to make use of as many components from the original HP case as possible, including the Laptop DVD drive.This was PERFECT for what I wanted, not only does it let you use a slim laptop drive in a desktop (and it mounts firmly), but the 2.5" HDD Rack makes access to my SSD effortless. And the button/catch to release the HDD is nice and firm too, so accidently bumping it isn't a problem. Of course, the two USB 3.0 ports are just gravy.It also has blue LED's on the front, when there's a HDD in it, its lit up blue, and when that HDD is accessed, it flashes purple (probably a red LED mixing with the blue light).All in all, very pleased with this, does everything it says it does, and does it well with great build quality. If you need to use a laptop dvd drive in a desktop, and want some extra addons like a HDD tray and some usb ports, you can't go wrong with this! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Good robust unit *by A***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 January 2021* A well made piece of equipment that allows multi use of a PC case slot. The only complaint is they don't mention the need for a slimline SATA cable adapter for the DVD drive. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Seems purposefully made to not work properly with RAID controllers *by A***R on Reviewed in Canada on 10 November 2022* The product itself is quite good. If you use it like most people, it will be fine and very worthwhile to allow easy drive replacement. However, if you plan to use it as part of a RAID setup, this is not for you. There is a problem which makes it impossible for this to work reliably in RAID. The drives need to be turned on by way of a button push with 1 button for each corresponding drive bay. Seems fine as afterwards it remembers which drive you've selected. The problem is sometimes it "forgets" because you made a change which, on the surface, has no direct correlation to these bays. As a result, your array has dropped members and is deemed degraded and needs rebuild, or worst it is deemed failed and you've lost everything. Had the manufacturer not implemented this "feature" and simply allowed the drives to function without extra buttons, this would have received 5 stars. As it stands, they complicated this device and made it less reliable. Maybe there's a jumper or some way which can disable this feature?
