The service call would have been $50 just to check what was needed, then probably another trip for the part, and order time, then another trip back to install. When I called Direct tv about the problem operating our DVR, she led us through a test, and it showed one signal was not coming through. Direct TV told us, you own the equipment, so anything faulty is your problem. Therefore, since my son who is an engineer, said these are frequently the problem, it was certainly worth the risk for such a small cost.
