The mic helps cut out the background noise going on and at the same time picks up you voice and broadcasts it in a great sounding high quality audio. I picked this up for a new radio I picked up. I have tried many mics over the years and the road devil seems to work well with my voice. My dad had to use the D-104M6B because it seemed to pickup his voice better and sounded better for him. Maybe because I have used it for so long, but it feels much better in my hand than 95% of the mics that I've tried. Some guys have tried mine and liked them better than what they had been using and they went out and bought road devil mics for themselves. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with a road devil mic. You can boost the gain a little if you need, to make your radio sound louder.
