The TI-83 requires the user to remember a lot more. It uses parentheticals to enter data, so the user must enter the required data in the required order, but there is no prompt. The TI-84 gives prompts for required data points such as mean, median, z-scores, critical values, etc. It also has more data packages than the 83, so less work has to be done manually. I'm kind of glad my 83 crapped out so I had to replace it! :-P Hope that helps. **Q: Can this be used for Algebra through Calculus in high school?** A: Yes it can. Many of my customers are high school / college students. I haven't run the batteries dry yet after a semester of heavy college math courses. The black color hides the dinginess it probably gets from being brought everywhere.
