Review: Great for digitizing old music or other memories from cassette tapes - >100 tapes and still going. I bought this to digitize some old tape cassettes into MP3 files. Minus one star because the 'A' side's play button will sometimes not engage unless I 'double press' it. At first, I thought it was because the tape deck's play button was not up to par but, over time, I came to realize that it was because of my tapes. These tapes are from 1989 - 2004 and I noticed the oldest tape's casings were slightly warped likely due to being so old by now. I will also admit I did not take the best care of the tapes. So this deck handled all that and now I have a digitized library full of old musical memories. No more worrying about whether the tape playback will be the last playback before the tape breaks. - Never 'ate' a tape - The audio quality is good enough for the price point, I also heavily used the free 'Audacity' program to digitize the tapes and normalize volumes, add effects. Mated the deck to the PC using a USB to RCA interface which would be a required item to use with this if wanting to digitize.
Review: It does what it promised! For the $, I am pleased. - I have a lot of old cassette tapes. I decided I wanted to listen to them again just for the heck of it. I bought several vintage (fancy word for old crap) decks online. The ones that survived the trip failed within a few months. I am not the guy who is going to put in effort and try to salvage this old tech. I decided to look into a new deck. Not much to choose from so I bought this Pyle unit. You know what? For the money, it is pretty good. Here is what you really need to know. Our tapes, for the most part, are 30+ years old. Some have aged well, some are barely listenable. It is not the deck that causes them to sound bad. The first tape I randomly put in was so bad I thought I had wasted my money yet again. I sighed and turned it off and walked away. A week later, I tried again. I grabbed a Fleetwood Mac Tango in the Night tape, put it in and....it sparkled!! I began trying lots of different tapes and realized the deck itself was doing what it could with old junk I was feeding it. Let's face it, cassette tapes had their time, and that was long ago. They are never going to sound great- they didn't 30 years ago, they certainly won't today. But... It is fun to mess around with them anyway. As to the deck itself, yeah, it is not gonna knock you out with its appearance (which, btw, is fine) or it's low quality plastic buttons- but it gets the job done for a relatively low cost. I find the whole thing easy to use and hook up. For the casual listener, this is a great option. I don't record anything so I can't speak to that element of this deck. As I recall, the reviews for these decks are all mixed up by model. I bought the cheapest one and refurbished at that. I don't think I would spend additional money on the "better" ones since the low end one seems to have the same features. Undoubtedly the internal components are the same. All in all, I am happy with this machine.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What are the size dimensions of this unit, width-length-depth?**
A: I had to pull it out of the donations for Salvation Army box and then open to measure. It's length 16.5" X width 8.5" X height 5". I think it worked for a month or at the most 3 and then it just died. It no longer powers up and I'm no electrician. Such a waste of money. I'm thinking of it as an expensive rental.

**Q: What's the fastest it can do the dubbing?**
A: I'm not sure because I haven't used that dubbing feature yet!

**Q: Does this deck let you press "ff" and "play" at the same time to automatically fast forward to and start the next song?**
A: No. It's a very basic deck.

**Q: Does this deck have input for microphone? If so is it 1/4 inch or 3mm?**
A: It just has a headphone jack (1/4 inch, or if you have an adapter, smaller size). I don't see a microphone input. You can record from CD or radio.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pyle cassette deck
*by D***. on August 18, 2026*

This cassette tape deck is ok, but I wouldn't recommend it for using Type2 or Type 3 cassette tapes that you recorded some of your favorite music on, I'd only use it for Type 1 cassettes.
