The only difference in the GL12 and GC12 tempered glass lids is the knob on the top. The updated GL12 has a silicone knob that is oven safe to 400 degrees F. The older version (GC12) has a plastic knob, but it is still safe to up to 400 degrees F. **Q: In which country are these tempered glass lids manufactured?** A: My order arrived just today. According to the retail box: 10¼" skillet is made in USA. The matching glass lid is made in China. **Q: I store my cast iron skillet in the oven, even when I'm using the oven to cook something else. Can the lid withstand that kind of repeated heat?** A: Haven't tried the lid in the oven that frequently, but it stands to reason that it if it is oven-safe, it should be fine.
