Review: Great sounding and won't skip when scratching... - Ok so I just got into DJing with turntables. I've been using a DDJ-SX2 DJ controller before that. I was gifted two Gemini PT 2000 mk2 turntables, which are basically just Technics 1200 clones. Anyway, when I first got them, they had some raggedy needles on them so I swapped them with two new Numark CC-1 cart/stylus combos I bought on here. Well when trying to scratch on the turntables, the needles skipped like crazy. Sometimes it would be better than others, but I feel confident in saying that the CC-1 skips, no matter how tightly you calibrate it. I looked online for "best DJ carts for scratching" and saw this as one of the middle of the road choices. I decided to buy one to test it out and I can safely say, they are great for scratching. I'm able to scratch my 7inch scratch vinyl as well as my 7inch control vinyl without the needles skipping. It may skip if I'm overly vigorous and shake the turntable/tonearm too much, but when I'm using proper technique, it stays rock solid. Even dropping the sound and pulling back on the vinyl it stays in the groove. This is a great cart/stylus combo and I can't believe how cheap it is. It's $20 cheaper than the Numark CC-1 and works better than that one. If you're looking for a new cart, and don't want to drop almost $300 on a Shure M447, then this is a safe bet.
