These are definitely not the thickest or most absorbent pads out there - however, we were looking for best-bang-per-buck with an eye towards quantity. These can handle a day's worth of number ones from our dog (we put four down at a time) and have never had any leakage problems, but I can see how it may happen if the dog goes more frequently and heavier on the pad (by not absorbing, but basically staying in the same place and "spreading out" over the pad and possibly onto the floor). She usually only goes on one pad, so we only have to replace one daily at a time, unless she's had a bad accident. Great value, definitely will purchase again.EDIT 06.17.13 adjusted to 2 stars: As I purchased another box, something must have changed as now it leaks through one mat. Our dog doesn't have very much urine, but it still seeps through. I'm not sure if it is lacking enough absorbent material or if the plastic backing is thinner, but we are needing to double up the pads now. Admittedly, I bought this because the Wee-Wee brand pads that I usually buy had a 3-4 week shipping schedule and shot up in price. Okay, lesson learned. I won't make that mistake again. Next time, I'll buy the brand that I am positive will do the job. These pads are not absorbent and any urine from your dog will definitely leak. I've had to change my dog's pads more often because the pad doesn't really absorb liquids that well. I own a small Chihuahua and these pads should do the trick, but they don't. If you don't want to clean up your floor or carpet, then don't use this pad. We had purchased cheaper quality wee wee pads and our puppy's urine would soak right through it. She was also able to easily tear it apart and it would just stink. This pad has proven to be superior in quality. It has better absorption abilities (in turns into a gel-like substance in the middle) and covers more surface area so we don't have puppy potty prints all over the house.
