Wrapped beautifully.Overall great. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book. *by J***� on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 December 2012* I`ve had this book for over a year now and have found myself referencing it more and more often, not just for my own work but for the benefit of my painting students.I have followed Saville`s progress ever since I saw her graduation show at GSA and was fortunate to exhibit alongside her in a show at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh in 1994 where she contributed three works - a major alternative version of "Propped" and two studies, one of which was for "Branded". I was impressed by her work then; this volume more than confirms her status in my mind as an outstanding talent.As others have noted, there are relatively few works actually included, but for me, that is beside the point; the volume is rich in detailed close-ups of her brushwork revealing her wonderfully loose technique; in her brief interview with Simon Schama she mentions her affinity with abstract art - something I not only share but have explored in my own art for over a decade - I find myself very much in tune with her work.The imagery is perhaps not for everyone, but I have never yet met a serious painter who has commented disparagingly on her work.This is - currently - the most easily obtainable and affordable book on Saville available; the texts are thin, but the work is remarkable, rewarding and unflinching.An excellent addition to any serious art library. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Some things I liked, some things I didn't. *by V***A on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 December 2009* The media could not be loaded. I was interested in her earlier work, the huge canvases of herself on display in the Saatchi gallery as well as 'Strategy' and 'Juncture' etc. Unfortunately these were smaller on the page than necessary, but the quality of the images were excellent. I found this the most disappointing. Saville's work is about large scale, so why did the publisher choose to print them small on the page, leaving a lot of unused space?It includes photos in her studio, enlargements of the work and clippings from some of her sketch books showing newspaper pictures and medical textbooks, which reveal the source of some of her later images.I think the book could have been better, with larger images and more in-depth interviews. I was also unaware of her more recent work, which is distasteful, but that would be entirely my own opinion. On the other hand, the close up images of her work do reveal her brush marks and are very interesting. Her use of colour is really highlighted by this.I do not want to repeat other reviews.
