I dont have that particular head anymore so i cant get a ruler out but i would expect them to be the same. Next size up 9 inches or 23 cm…. Actually 9.055. Wish i could help you more but its been some years since i purchased that head. **Q: Is the measurement of the head for the seating surface or the overall diameter of the ring?** A: I have installed the head I purchased so I cant give you an exact answer but I can tell you that the measurement of the playing surface of the head installed is 8 and 11/16 inches. It has been my experience that drums of different makers vary ever so little and the ring and head stretch a little so I haven't had a problem fitting heads of different manufacturers. This leaves a sharp edge you hand is playing against. The second picture is the drum without a head. The thirs picture is the old head, level with the edge. We are returning this because it doesn't fit. The diameter fits fine, but the thickeness, how much the plastic surface doesn't reach the top edge is why we can't use this drum head. It is too bad, because the quality of the plastic is better than on the old head.
