You only need a thin layer, but the layer must all be one. Do not over coat, it will leave a brown residue that detracts from the effect. **Q: will it give the same effect if added to epoxy?** A: No. It is a matrix of liquid crystal that is setup when it dries as a thing film. The epoxy clear coat is to protect the matrix and the color changing effect. It is an effect that is seen with a dark contrast background. Use black as a background. **Q: Can i mix this into resin? Or would it be best to just use as a paint?** A: It is best used as a thin airbrushed coating. The Liquid crystal will align when it dries. It needs the contrast of a Black or Dark background to see the effect clearly. A perfect example is a Black ABS 3d printed object that is airbrushed lightly with the liquid crystal paint that has been thinned a little with distilled water. Then to protect the liquid crystal matrix that aligns when it dries, you coat it with a strong clear coating, such as an epoxy (without bubbles). The liquid crystal coating must be let to dry before coating so the matrix or micro crystal aligns. To reset the refractance you can put the item in the refrigerator or freezer. The effect is that of a Black Fire Opal. **Q: Does this item come with instructions on how to convert it to liquid?** A: It is a liquid already. It doesn't come with any directions. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ INCREDIBLE, nostalgia in a bottle *by on Reviewed in the United States October 28, 2025* This product is AMAZING!!!! It’s a little tricky to work with and just takes some practice, especially using as a nail polish. I’ve had mine for several years and it comes in a small container but you only need a tiny bit. It has thickened over time but I added in a literal drop of water and it came right back to original consistency. I’ve also found that it works best sandwiched between a layer of black gel polish and TWO layers of a good gel topcoat and the results aHey this is Victoria from Evolve, we cant wait to see you again and have you officially join the team! Just a few reminders, the address is 3033 S Parker Road, Aurora, suite 300. Come wearing business professional clothes and bring a spare pair of comfy shoes for the event. I also like to pack a lunch or some snacks for throughout the day. Hope you are having a great Sunday and again I am excited to see you tomorrow morning absolutely incredible. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A little goes a long way *by on Reviewed in the United States January 26, 2026* A little goes a long way. This stuff is fantastic and i have purchased it multiple times. Apply a thin, even layer over a dark and *matte* surface and let dry completely. Seal with clear coat or resin or whatever you like. I am currently using it to add "mood rings" to my nails. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent pigment *by on Reviewed in the United States January 5, 2026* This was perfect for my mood ring nail art project! It's a bit difficult to work with due to it having to be suspended in a water-based medium to prevent breakage, but can be layered over time to achieve a good opaque effect. ## Frequently Bought Together - Solar Color Dust Liquid Crystal Thermochromatic (Mood Ring Effect) Ink, 12 Color Change, Pure Form, 1/2oz jar - LET'S RESIN Thermochromic Pigment Powder Temperature Activated That Changes at 88°F-5 Colors Changing Powder for Nail Polish, Paint, Slime, Epoxy, Resin, Ink, Fabric Art, Casting-3 Gram Each - LET'S RESIN Chameleon Flakes, Resin Supplies -Intense Color Shift Pigment Powder for Resin Molds/Tumblers, Chrome Powder Pigment for Christmas Nail Art/Paint/Soap Making --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.ar/products/105903234-liquid-crystal-thermochromatic-mood-ring-effect-ink-12-color-change](https://www.desertcart.com.ar/products/105903234-liquid-crystal-thermochromatic-mood-ring-effect-ink-12-color-change) --- *Product available on Desertcart Argentina* *Store origin: AR* *Last updated: 2026-10-07*
