I've rarely paid attention to reviews when it comes to scents, but the biggest problem I've had with most beard oils is the scent. I've developed a frustrated feeling towards the tea tree smelling ones. And there's a lot of those. I've returned two bottles recently solely based on them having a pencil shavings dipped in tea tree oil smell. So, both the negative reviews and positive reviews on this Smolder scent led me to trying it.The first thing I'll say is there isn't anything feminine about this scent. It's not that different from the Dior Homme line of colognes, except lighter and without any iris. I will say it might not work well for the younger guys and would describe the scent as a mature man scent. If I had to describe the scent it would be a blend of vanilla or tonka bean with woodsy tones. If you're smelling cookies after putting this on your beard it's because you ate cookies and didn't wash your beard good. It's a definite welcome change of pace scent to the typical beard care products and I'll be ordering some of this scent in shave soap as well. The performance of the oil is also very good. I have thick, coarse facial hair that tries to become frizzy after a shower, but this oil keeps it in place. There's noticeable difference in the softness of my beard as well. I only needed 2 drops, but my beard isn't as long as it had been. It's about 3-4 inches at its longest right now. I do believe my review carries value and I always leave a review.So how's the smell? It's like toasted marshmallows by a campfire. You smell the vanilla with a smokey hint. It is a light smell. Smell strength is a 6 on the scale of 10. It's a light smell so it doesn't last long. No big. It does what beard oil is suppose to....makes your beard shiny. Makes it manageable to comb. It can soften your beard but for the best soften results you should use Beard oils on a clean damp beard.What's in the stuff? Common oils and the kicker....a fragrance. Smolder. I would like to know what the fragrance consist of. This fragrance makes it different. It has the oils you need. Absorbs quick and doesn't feel too greasy. It has a dab cal which I don't mind. Sometimes a dropper and get....messy if you aren't paying attention. Price was a plus. Beard oil ain't cheap. I've had no break outs or itchiness. All in all i would buy it again. I have 3 other oils and this will be my "I want something different today"type of oil. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great smell, helps with dry skin *by D***H on Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2015* I've only started using beard products for the past year or less, and so far I have tried one of the popular brands of balm and a heavy duty balm. I don't really need control as much as I needed something to soften my beard and help with dry skin. I also didn't like the smell of earlier products I tried. This oil has a very nice vanilla-ish scent, but with a touch of something more masculine I can't quite put my finger on. I wish they sold a cologne to match it. So far it has helped with my dry skin under the beard. I have only been using it a few days, so I can't say that it is helping with softness. I do find that even though my beard is relatively short, I feel like I need more than the 3-4 drops recommended on the bottle.
