When I took them out of the shipping container (more on this later) the first thing I noticed was a black occlusion inside the left barrel. It looked like a piece of plastic stuck to one of the lens elements.I figured I would return them and order a new pair, since the outside quality seemed nice. I decided to give them a test view outside to make sure the focusing mechanics worked well. Oh, crap!I could either focus the left or the right barrel, but not both at the same time. The lenses were out of collimation, either through the manufacturing process or shipping. Normally, this is what happens to a pair of binoculars when they are dropped.I'm a long-time satisfied Amazon customer, but I believe the misaligned lenses came about through shipping- the binoculars were shipped in a bubble padded 11 X 13" that was less than 1/4" thick, measuring both sides together. Hey shipping guys: just because something will fit inside an envelope doesn't mean it should be shipped in it.
