The Italian tomatoes, grown under the sunny skies of the Emilia-Romagna region, shine in a quick marinara and hold up to my seven-hour Sunday gravy. The taste actually gets richer with cooking, plus they add that special sweetness that only the best tomatoes can impart to long-simmered pork bones, tough cuts of meat, sausages and meatballs. Heaven is dipping a piece of nice fresh Italian bread (especially "the hump") into the sauce. It brings me back to Sunday dinners back in the day. Whole Foods keeps it in stock and it often goes on sale, so it is affordable. Every so often, I stock up to make sure that I always have it on hand.
