Book contents OK. Graphics inaccurate in many cases.
The national insignia for early WWII a/c is reproduced inaccurately by illustrator Rock Roszak. Not only is the red center inside the star not to touch any part of the star, it is not to extend beyond the imaginary internal TANGENT lines of the star as well. Mr. Roszak's centers are TOO big on all his illustrations. A simple comparison to all the actual photos used for the subject a/c will see this simple but GLARING mistake. It may have been made on a few actual a/c by some unknowing painter out in the field, but the tech orders of the day were quite clear on what dimensions and shape the insignia were supposed to look like. I can't vouch for the rest of the contents of this fairly well done period piece, but one has to wonder why someone did not do their homework. Historians, model makers, and most general enthusiasts of this time period are well aware of the tangent requirement. Why Mr. Roszak, or Mr. Kinzey especially, didn't correct this flaw before publication is a mystery. Fix this problem and book gets 4 stars (with correct centers).

Good overview, but some issues with print quality
Overall I like this book but felt it was not up to Detail and Scales previous standards. I felt the paper quality was a bit poor, and the print quality mediocre. The color profiles are also not the greatest, far poorer than say what you would get from Osprey or even Squadron. That being said the cockpit photos are worth the cover price, but I was disappointed in it over all

nice pictures, not enough data
The descriptions of how the planes were ordered, manufactured, and modified were interesting and new to me. The pictures, especially of the cockpits were great. What was missing were numbers; what was the operational range of an SBD-3 with a 500lb bomb? With a 1000lb bomb? How did those numbers change with the SBD-4? I know from history books this was important, and I was disappointed not to learn anything about that from this book. Still, the book had a lot of interesting information and I'm glad I bought it.

Excellent Aircraft Reference
This is an excellent priority reference for history buffs and model builders. Aircraft descriptions are concise, yet thorough with high quality illustrations and detail photos that are in color wherever possible. A nice touch are the battle maps which give further context the operation of these aircraft. The entire book is only 114 pages in length, but the amount of information presented would normally require the consulting of multiple references. No fluff, every page has something of interest. The primary author Bert Kinzey is an old hand at publishing aircraft reference books. He and his illustrator Rock Roszak make a great team.

Excellent book.
More info than I expected. Thoroughly enjoyed the read, and I learned a lot. Included prototypes of aircraft, that didn't enter production. Which I enjoyed. I have always loved Kinzey's books, even more so with the Kindle books. They have more info and photos than the print books. Plus you can enlarge the font for easier reading, as well as you can zoom in on the pictures to see details better. No more squinting at small photos. And you get all this for less money than a print book.

Outstanding modeling reference!
OUTSTANDING! Now I'm over-hyped to do a project build of models of all aircraft types that participated in this landmark battle.Peace to all the souls lost in this battle, and to their loved ones and descendants. May we, as a species, realize that war is not a solution, sooner than later.

Omnibus book
There's something new here for anyone with an interest in aviation, especially U.S. Naval Aviation. If you're brand new to the subject you'll find it a valuable reference, and if you're an old hare that's got every book on the subject you'll find a lot new here.

Valuable resource.
There was a large number of changes from before WW II to the end in naval aviation and there colors. This is a single volume that explains this well. Very good resource!

Slapdash printing published on the cheap!
My first copy was guillotined 3mm out of true causing the book to be lopsided.Cheap paper causes high ink absorption detracting from the detail of the content. Obviously privately published to a cost not a quality product.A great shame becuase the content is very good.A good ship lost for an 'apporth of tar.

A Model Makers Copendium
This publication was a great overview of US Navy and Marine aircraft including those rare planes that never made it into service. A most enjoyable read. The photographs and artwork provide extra knowledge for those who are interested in aircraft paint schemes and markings.

Camouflage and Markings
I think this lacks a lot of detail. What it does show I found is very, very limited
