Did you notice that. So let's keep expectations real here.I used it to convert N64 to hdmi. Then realized you can also switch hdmi to hdmi as well, so hooked the Xbox 360 through it for a party so we didn't have to swap inputs on the tv. Just hit the button on this to do it.Later my Xbox 360 stopped working on my tv after some update. Not sure what happened. Hdmi And composite. While troubleshooting I decided to try running it through this device. Boom. It worked. Probably had something to do with dhcp or something? Not sure. But it's nice we can still play a few of the older games with it.To;dr - if you need to convert . This works well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars It's great, but not without its flaws. *by R***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2015* Bear in mind that this review is only for people who want to hook up their older retro gaming systems to their modern TV.This is replacing the junky Portta RCA/S-Video to HDMI converter that I had ordered previously. The Portta completely destroyed any s-video signal being ran to it, and since I have already invested in s-video cables for the majority of my compatible retro gaming systems, s-video was important to me. Seriously, steer clear of the Portta. My modern TV doesn't have s-video inputs, so a converter is the only was to get a better picture over composite cables.This box goes by several names, but all the guts are the same. I've seen this more commonly branded as the EtekCity video converter.Once this arrived, I was very pleased that it cleanly and properly upconverted my s-video devices. Although investing in RGB SCART for the SNES, Genesis and other 16 bit systems is the best way to go for pixel perfect image quality, I wanted to stick with s-video for the sake of simplicity (and cheapness). S-video looks great as long as you have the proper cables. Be wary of junky 3rd party Nintendo s-video cables as they are often wired wrong and pass a messy composite signal through it, making it looks worse than regular composite cables.As far as image quality goes, this works great. I've seen people complain about the fixed aspect ratio, but this device has no control over this. As long as your TV can force a 4:3 aspect ratio, it works perfectly. This complaint is usually misdirected as it really comes down to the TV you're hooking it up to.The device has 3 inputs. 1 Composite AV, 1 S-Video and 1 HDMI. The s-video and composite inputs both share a pair of stereo RCA (white and red) inputs for audio. I'm guessing that the HDMI input is there to give you your HDMI input back that's being used on the TV. I've heard people complain that using this input strips the subtitles from any cable box or DVD/Blu-Ray player that's ran to it, but this doesn't effect me. There is a selector button that allows you to switch between inputs and another button to toggle between 720p and 1080p.This device is not without its flaws, however. There is significant input lag when running through this. I'd say it's about half of a second, which will ruin you when playing games that require precise controls and timing. I would suggest against this if you are looking to play any type of platformer (Mario, Sonic, etc.). If you're playing games like Final Fantasy or just RPG's in general, this will work fine as you usually don't need to be as precise.To be honest, I was expecting this with how cheap the unit is. If you want zero input lag, you're better off looking into a Frameister, but expect to pay $300 MINIMUM for one. And if you're willing to shell out that kind of cash, you're probably going to buy SCART cables anyway. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars A product that actually does more than it says and does it VERY well. *by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2016* I am shocked at how well this product upscales S-Video to 1080p. The available options which appear conveniently on an on-screen display allow you to select exactly what type of video you want the device to output. You can select from 3 video and 2 audio inputs as well. No screen flicker and no detectable video noise generated during the upscaling process. ALWAYS use a GOOD power filter/surge suppressor to drive your AV equipment.
