I'm thinking about 3metres?** A: The cable from the Optimate to the plug is approximately 1.5 metres, so 1.5 metres. I keep my Optimate in the garage and use two extension leads from the Optimate to the car on the drive with no problems. Many thanks.** A: Mine is on all the time and it is warm but not hot **Q: Can the optimate 6 be used on a bmw canbus sysyem? do you have to do all the same things as with the optimate 4?** A: My Mercedes is A Canbus system and so is my BMW motorcycle. I have an Optimate 5 on the bike and an Optimate 6 on the car and both work well. On the car I had the power point in the boot wired live all of the time so I didn’t have to keep lifting the bonnet and taking covers off the battery. I know someone who has had a 5 for many years now and has had None/Zero issues with it. I now have a car laid low at the moment so I'm in need. But... Beware. The 'Permanent' cable connections supplied with the 6 are too damn big for any terminal on my battery! I need the other cable, the 0-01 with M6 holes in it! Research indicates Optimate have made the assumption that a bigger need will be catered for with bigger connectors! TBF, Optimate have to decide something...but in my case...not... and I'm pretty certain my last car was both battery posts at M6 too, as was my daughters Audi, I can't use this thang! Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think many (European) cars have monster battery clamp fasteners (M8-M10).... your Submarine may vary? Check your Needs N Feeds pilgrims.
