They are not weather protected, exposure to the elements will shorted the life I have a 35 amp charger that has been in continuous use for more than 15 years without problems, 55 amp that gets occasional use as a charger, and this replacement of a 15 amp charger , the old one was exposed to the elements (sheltered but outside) to power a 12volt refrigerator lasted a couple of years near the ocean in Mexico. They are often used to power display cases of 12 volt car stereo systems. They have special circuitry to keep the noise down. Ham radio operators also use them because of the noise reduction (I mean radio noise). If you need a charger power supply I recommend IOTA.
