I listen to recorded books on CD. Even though this is designed for bathroom use, I didn't see any reason why I couldn't use it elsewhere. It arrived when promised. I inserted the 6 C-cell batteries it needed and put in the first CD of the book I was just starting. Nothing happened. Usually, you expect to see the disc spinning until it settles on Track 1. It didn't. I found the button that prevents movement when the lid is raised. I removed the CD and pressed the button with a toothpick until it clicked. A couple of spins of the spindle, and then nothing. Eventually, with some shifting and jiggling, I got the thing to spin with the disc in place, but then all I heard was garbled words. I popped in Disc 2, same thing. I grabbed Disc 7 out of the box, and it worked fine. I went back to Disc 1...garble, garble, garble. I tried all 10 discs in the box and the machine could not read the first 3 tracks on any of them, even Disc 7 when I put it back in a second time. It's possible to get a defective item, so I was willing to exchange it, but alas, so such luck. I had to return for a refund and order it again. Too much trouble for something so uncertain. Guess, I'll just go to a "brick & mortar" store to find what I want. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Nice idea-but the CD player didn't work *by L***L on April 15, 2013* I wasn't expecting great sound quality for the price, but would have liked to try a CD to compare it with the radio which was just adequate. CD wouldn't play-started, then stopped. Unfortunately, there's no option for exchange with this item, and I'm not going to bother to try ordering again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Product *by P***H on September 30, 2012* The radio meets my needs for Bathroom use.
