I see 3 holes in the locking ring but I dont understand what the all-thread is for and different lengths.** A: Its to be able to lock the latch in place. Some hoods, bumpers or fenders are thicker then others so it’ll use a different rod length so be able to squeeze the lower ring on the main piece. I spring for the heavy duty ones, as the smaller ones seemed a bit flimsy. the studs are beefy stainless steel, and the latches are machined well and operate smoothly. It took some finageling to get everything just right, but very much worth it, given my hood cable has been broken for quite a while. You'll need a couple of hole saws to get the job done along with basic tools.
