The many beats described in this book get you started immediately playing drums. The lessons are well presented and can be followed easily. One drawback however, is that the entire song is not covered. But, I guess some imagination and practice can accomplish this. I highly recommend this book. You will be playing your first beat within 1/2 hour!

Pretty good book as far as learning drums go.  A good mix of learning fundamentals and learning some songs early.  The CD is also useful.

I have been learning to play the drums for three months. This book and dvd set are an excellent start for anyone wanting to learn. I would recommend this for ages eight to adult. The reading is pretty easy to understand that is why I say as early as eight years. The complete leason set in this format is a far better bargain than buying leasons individually. I greatly recommend this book/dvd set.
