Patina Style

Exceeds expectations--Inspiring and practical.
Patina Style is filled with beautiful, high quality pictures of Brooke and Steve Giannetti's design aesthetic. They take the simple--whether it's an aged mirror or a burlap curtain--and elevate it to the sublime. Being familiar with Steve's architecture and a fan of Brooke's Velvet and Linen blog, I had expected as much. What I did not expect from Patina Style, but am thoroughly enjoying, is the practical advice and pearls of wisdom discovered throughout the pages. From their advice on creating a display, to the list of resources in the back, to their suggestions for things like paint color, this book guides the reader on achieving the Patina Style look.To get a sense of the Patina Style philosophy, check out Brooke's Velvet and Linen blog and the Giannetti Home website. Patina Style is timeless, yet up to date...inviting yet elegant...serene, but filled with quirky surprises...Think of a linen slipcovered chair next to an industrial table topped with mercury glass vase. Steve Giannetti is a prominent architect whose work regularly appears in notable magazines. His wife, Brooke, is an engaging blogger and leading interior designer. Together, in creating Patina Style, they have articulated a look which will inspire you to appreciate authenticity and simplicity, makes you want to stay at home, enjoy breakfast in your garden, and cook a simple farmers market meal for your loved ones. This is a style not just to admire, but one you will want to live by.

Beautiful reference book for design; delightful images for the soul!
I have followed Brooke's blog Velvet and Linen since she started writing it, and her style and sensibility influenced our new home to a large degree. "Patina Style" is not only a beautiful 'coffee table' book to enjoy browsing through, but it contains wonderful, well thought out strategies for designing that special look or feel in your own home -- without, I should say, spending a fortune. With Brooke's encouragement, I started visiting resale shops in our community and found many treasures which we incorporated in our new home. At first glance, it seems decorating spaces in cream and gray would be easy, but it's not. Muted colors call for texture and a play of light -- and Patina Style not only discusses how to achieve a look, but the concepts are supported in the beautiful images. Brooke taught me the importance of mixing vintage pieces with new. Incorporating vintage lighting fixtures and furnishings into our shiny new home was just the touch it needed to feel lived in, and loved.I am giving copies of Patina Style as hostess gifts (think about it, about the price of a good bottle of wine, but something that will be enjoyed for a long time), will include the book on my Christmas shopping list, and can't recommend it highly enough.I'm waiting for the next book which I hope will be based on the building and completion of Brooke's new home "Patina Farm"! See, I do read the blog...

FABULOUS!
It's not just a book, it's an experience. I literally haven't put it down since it arrived earlier this week. The neutral colors are breathtaking! How the designers have managed to create such beauty and put it in a book is nothing short of amazing. The use of Antique architectural pieces inspires you to run to the nearest Flea Market and start searching for your own.I pre-ordered this amazing book after reading about it on the Velvet & Linen blog. It shipped out much faster than expected which was like an early Christmas gift - the imagery is just lovely. Every page is stylish, unique and extraordinary - you can't help but smile as you lift through the pages.Since the world seems to be going digital, to have such a lovely blog turn into a FABULOUS book is a great treasure. I'm still a traditionalist and LOVE good books - especially eye candy like "Patina Style".I'm sharing this book with all my stylish friends - what a great gift this book will make!

the Giannetti's design aesthetic is inspiring
Patina Style celebrates the beauty of the worn object, whether utilitarian or decorative. The placement of the objects in elegant softly hued interiors full of light and texture is what sets the Giannetti's design aesthetic apart from others. The large photos allow the viewer to get an up close look at images that may have been first viewed on Brooke's blog, Velvet & Linen. The commentary is useful and thoughtfully written.Hopefully this is not the last book the Giannetti's will create. Their inspiring ideas for their next home, Patina Farm, will create a wealth of content for what could undoubtedly be another great book!Brooke and Steve are thoughtful and generous designers who by their willingness to share their outlook and perspective become teachers. Their readers and fans benefit from that sharing.

Pátina Style
Pelo título: "Patina Style" achei que fosse ensinar a técnica de Pátina em móveis. É só mais um livro de decoração
