no school like the old school
i always preferred the old style keyboards for their positive feedback on each keystroke, this one delivers on that while remaining unobtrusive and free of obnoxious branding. there is no perceivable latency and the whole unit is of excellent quality. The dip switch hardware based user inputs are especially nice for ease of use and lack of latency found in software based keyboard controls. works great with any system. if you want or need a 1980's-1990's style old school keyboard that is actually built to last and can work with any computer this is the one for you. might even be a Buy It For Life candidate, but only time will tell. (this thing is heavy and has replaceable keycaps and mechanical switches, so it's likely.) the keystrokes are very sure and easy to tell if you're hitting each stroke. ergonomics are standard for any non-ergo keyboard, but if you have a desire for the old school and want positive feedback keystrokes and durability this is the keyboard for you, the backlight is dimmable and can be turned off if needed using the fn key and f11(dim) or f12 (on/off). this is what a proper keyboard should be. the instructions are basic but so is the setup. this is 100% mechanical hardware and i love it. for a mac you just flip the first two dip switched to on and plug it in. nothing more. all of my functions are correct and it works perfectly on my imac. do your research on the different switch options, i like the clicky ones myself but some might find them annoying. [i asked my wife first and she said it was ok.] the cord is separate like a phone charger as well which is a nice touch, easy to replace or change length, and has channels to hold it in place. great quality product, mine was made in taiwan, and is of superb quality. There is no substitute for mechanical hardware when reliability and lack of latency is a concern.

Great keyboard with great feel
When I wanted a good mechanical keyboard, I did a lot of research. I wanted to have a full keyboard as I use the number pad a lot. Coworkers that had used other WASD keyboards suggested the Code keyboard. I'm so glad they did.Upon first glance it's sleek and modern, but isn't flashy. I love that it appears to be unbranded on the top of the casing. I wanted a removable USB cable but many top brands do that these days. It comes with any type of Cherry switch you want; I chose brown for clicky but no too clicky.I wish the LEDs were RGB to match my mouse, but I'm okay with just white. The light is even across all keys with no spots being brighter or dimmer than the rest. The casing is plastic, but it has a solid and substantial feel to it. It's not going to move unless you move it, and I type pretty forcefully most of the time.Another great thing about the keyboard is it doesn't require its own software. You set the LEDs to where you want them using function keys, and they stay there no matter what you connect the keyboard to. And with removable key caps and the DIP switches underneath, it can easily be used on any platform. Are there better keyboards for the money? I'm sure there are. To me the aesthetics played a big part. I think to get the same look and feel I'd be into a customer keyboard for even more. I love the keyboard so much I bought a second one for work. I can't say if this is the right keyboard for you, but for now at least it's the right one for me.

High Quality Unit - Great for Typing
I love this keyboard. It is everything I hoped it would be (and everything I paid good $$$ for). I am not a gamer. I am an engineer and I spend my day at the keyboard, nowadays mostly typing emails and reports. I learned to touch type in high school in the late '70s on an IBM Selectric, which had great touch. I have an IBM keyboard for my docked laptop at work, which also has great touch. I do not like the Apple keyboards and touch-only keyboards; I like my keys to travel when I push 'em--just what I am used to. I can type faster on this keyboard than on any other I have access to these days, and it seems that I make many fewer errors on this one than on others. I love the backlighting, which can be adjusted from dim to blindingly bright. The only thing I will say against this unit is that it is loud. The switches themselves (Cherry Clear) do not have clicks, but when the key bottoms out, there is a loud clack, so if you are looking for a keyboard that will not annoy your roommate with its clacky-ness, you probably want something else. My IBM keyboard (no longer available) at work has softer key landing (maybe a rubber insert?) and is not clacky like this.If the noise is not an issue, however, I don't think you can do any better than this keyboard.

Keyboards are defective.
I purchased a Code V3 104-Key Illuminated Mechanical Keyboard four years ago. Best keyboard I’ve ever owned. I’ve been working at home for a couple of days now, so I wanted to buy the best keyboard ever for home. I purchased multiple keyboards, and they all are defective. The keyboard light flashes, and for two or three seconds, the keyboard quits working. The keyboard flashes about once or twice every five minutes or so, making the keyboard unusable. I think this has to do with the chip shortage but not sure. I was able to return the keyboard.

Good for typing, really not meant for gaming
This keyboard has been my daily driver for over 6 months now. I've had quite a few issues with it, ones that make gaming nearly impossible. The keys sometime won't actuate despite being fully pressed, or sometimes they actuate when not being pressed at all. These are rather common, and very big issues in gaming, even just casual gaming. I don't get this really at all when typing though. The MX Green Switches allow me to not make so many mistakes with the heavier actuation force require, for most this would probably get quite tiring. The keyboard has superior build quality, although it has ABS key caps I've never had a problem with them. The only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of 1 is because of the build quality. I fully excepted for $200, to get a keyboard that would be a consistent and reliable, this is not that. I cannot recommend this keyboard.
