This is a knife of truly amazing quality!
This is an absolutely amazing knife.Back when the movie "First Blood" came out, all kinds of "survival knives" and Bowie knives appeared on the market, and almost all of them were garbage. I especially hated the ones with hollow handles full of "survival supplies", as they were necessarily not full-tang. This would be the opposite of those, what the makers and sellers of those garbage blades wanted people to think they were getting.I hunt in coastal East Texas, down in the bottoms of a wildly meandering bayou, and I don't leave the camp ground of the lease without this blade on my belt. This knife comes with an edge so very, very sharp that I would put it against the most expensive kitchen knife of any chef that I have worked for or with. Furthermore, it holds that edge very, very well. The blade is thick and heavy, but with a shape and sharpness that make it ideal for cutting the legs off of a gutted and skinned deer or hog. The butt of the handle is stout enough for emergency hammering, though I prefer to use the proper tool for that kind of job. The knife is very, very well balanced despite its impressive heft, and the shape, thickness, and sharpness of the blade make it a comforting and comfortable weapon of absolute last resort against a charging wild hog, or, may the Gods help me, a panther. (hog charges are uncommon, but I have a friend who got charged recently, and was without sidearm or blade, and didn't have time to cycle the action of his rifle for another shot because the wounded hog was so close, and so he had to jump to the side of the charging hog and swing the butt of his rifle down on the hog's head to save himself... so, I recommend a sidearm to back up the main hunting weapon, and a big knife to back up the sidearm) I have also used this knife to cut through greenbriers, to cut ropes and paracords for binding gear to my ATV (I believe in knot-tying skills, and generally eschew bungee cords and ratcheting tie-downs), and for cutting open 40-lb. bags of feed corn.If you just need a basic pocket knife or skinning knife, I would recommend the Sogzilla for a folding knife, and the SOG Seal Pup Elite with a straight (NON-SERRATED) edge. I carry those with me, too. Smaller blades are more generally practical, especially for most skinning, gutting, and butchering. However, a longer blade, when used by properly drawing the blade across and through the item to be cut, will last longer between honings and sharpenings. Furthermore, this knife is SO well-balanced that, in capable hands, it can be used for gutting, skinning, and butchering from beginning to end.I have spent a lot of time alone out in those bayou bottoms, and I like having a large-ish and nearly unbreakable blade that is very sharp and very well-balanced. If you spend much time outdoors in really rough conditions, this is a really good tool to have. In fact, if I were to have only one blade with me when hunting, hiking, or exploring this would be it. For fishing, I also carry a fillet knife.

Best Bowie Hunter Knife, I've ever Seen or Had!!!
This knife really is a work of art!!! Just Beautifully crafted!!!The Super SOG Bowie is a very, very solid knife.Made with AUS 8 steel, it's very resistant to water/rust damage, yet still has a high carbon content.Plus with the TiNi finish, makes this blade that much more resistant to any and all environmental threats. The blade itself is a 7-1/2 inch long chunk of steel. It's slightly over 1/4 inch thick, and that 1/4 inch carries down to within 2-1/4 inches to the tip. It's also 1-1/2 inches wide, through most of the blade.Just an excellent blade, with beautiful lines. This Super SOG Bowie comes sharp as a razor blade, this is my 3rd SOG knife, and I still say that SOG delivers the best factory grind on a blade, that I've ever seen. I own quite a few knifes. A bunch of Ka-Bar knives, 3 Zero Tolerance locking folders, and some Buck knives.SOG, by far, comes with the cleanest and sharpest grind on there blades.Great Handle!!!They did a excellent job with the stacked leather handle, (just beautiful work). The handle is a full 5 inches long, and thats Not including the blade guard. So even with very large hands, this knife has plenty of room to get a good solid grip on it!The Super SOG Bowie, as a whole, is a great, great knife! The balance is very good, though the complete knife does carry some weight, I still find it easy enough to use and handle. This really is the perfect choice for a hunter carry knife, even if, for the only reason, if your other means of protection/hunting failed, I.E. riffle, handgun, this Super SOG Bowie will dispatch a dangerous animal quickly, and you can depend on this knife.I simply LOVE this knife, and would buy it again tomorrow, if I lost mine. The Super SOG Bowie comes with a very nice & heavy leather sheath, and the sheath has a leather (sewn on) pouch for a sharpening stone, and the sharpening stone is also included. This Super Bowie is a Home Run for SOG, one Spectacular Bowie Knife!!!

BIG KNIFE!
I Love the SOG brand but unless you can palm a basketball the handle of this knife is to large. So if you are under 6’3” I bet you return this knife.I am 5’9” and my fingers barely touched on the the handle.

Another quality product from SOG
Well SOG has done it again… I was turned onto SOG Products about a year or so ago when I was looking to buy a "KBar", but instead it was suggested that I check out SOG's "Seal Pup" and or one of there Bowie knives. So over a few months I purchased both the Seal Pup and there Tec Bowie. After taking both of them out camping, and putting both of them through hell, I can firmly say that I'am totally sold on the quality and durability of there products. So I have been purchasing nothing but there products ever since. Now that all of that said... Down to this bowie knife. As soon as I opened the fancy box it came in, I can say I was vary impressed. Being that i have rather large hands, the feel of this knife in my hand was perfect. There is no question that with this knife being heavier then my Tech bowie, it would make a formidable weapon. I noticed that some people say that due to the weight that this knife wouldn't be good in an urban environment. I say that's crap! I carry this knife late at night, and very early morning's when I'm out walking the dog. Believe me just the look of the thing keeps the drug addicts that are out looking for money for there next fix from bothering me. If this knife holds up to the durability of the Tech bowie in a back country trip environment (and I don't see why it wouldn't) you can't beat it. As for the sheath, well the one it came with is better than some of there other one's. It seems that there at least trying to develop a better one, but like someone else said, is that I'm paying for a quality knife, and I couldn't agree more! You want a quality product, stick with SOG you can't go wrong!
