Solved my surging generator issue completely
Like many other reviewers, this was a simple, inexpensive, easy to install, and very effective solution to problems I was having with a Champion portable generator. Bought it used and supposedly 'well cared for'. Didn't get to start it for a while, but it was really hard to start, hard to keep running and was wildly rev'ing up and down. This was an exact replacement at a very reasonable price, that installed easily with zero adjustments and within 2 pulls, the generator took off running smoothly and responsively to loads. The extra fuel line, clamps, filter and gaskets were an added bonus. Like another reviewer, I had little room to install the filter, but managed to squeeze it in after several line length adjustments. This took way more time than the actual swap of the carburetor.Great product, great extras, great price. A+++

Fits Champion 42436 - 1200W
My Champion 42436 was constantly surging and would only run in choke mode. My own fault for storing it with gas in the carb. I tried cleaning it but that didnt work. Champion wanted something like $60+ to send a factory replacement. I bought this instead. Fitted it as it came, didnt mess it one bit, didnt try tune it, just plugged and played. Generator fired straight up and ran perfectly. I now keep a spare on hand just incase. It does come with a filter but there isnt room for that on a 42436, everything is just to close together. 42436 never came with a factory filter (they really should). I ended up buying some additional fuel line and installing the fuel filter outside of the frame kind of looped around the airbox. Its not pretty but for my purposes its fine. Fuel tank was getting rusty inside so the filter was a must.Only reason I dint give 5 stars is because Ive only run it for a hour so I cant comment on long term reliability. Overall, a great buy.

Better than what came on it!
I received the carb kit about 3 days after I ordered it. Came with a new hose, a good little see-thru filter, TWO gaskets (One for carb to engine, the other for carb to aircleaner which never was on the original)..After taken off the air clean cover and removing the sponge filter (my next order)...There's a simple little plastic guard you pull out of the back half of the air cleaner housing fully exposing two 10mm hex nuts...Make sure the gas valve is off, use a pair of pliers to compress and loosen gas line clamps, then remove the bolts...The two bolts that secure the air cleaner also are what hold the carburetor on the long screw studs...Carb slips off, use the pliers (OR your fingers) to remove the long thin "spring wire" and the throttle control...Might have to gingerly twist a little left and right to get that linkage off the old carb...Once everything is off, take your back gasket (one of two), and put it on first making sure it's flat against the intake opening on the engine block...THEN, taking your carb, feed it onto both of the long studs but not all the way,. You have to put the linkage and that thin "spring wire back on", the throttle level clearly has a smaller and a slightly larger hole for each. This might take you a minute or two to get them both on especially the first time. THEN one those two links are securly on, just slide the carburetor all the way to the gasket on the intake...NOW, take your other gasket (It'll be a different looking "hole"..You'll see the difference between it and the one between the block and carb...Put it on the studs for the outside of the carb. Now resinstall the back-half of the air cleaner with those 10mm hex nuts. Turn the gas valve on...Guarantee, if you followed all the directions, you should fire up on the second recoil rope pull!. I bought this unit used and I tell YOU, it's never run as GOOD as it did today..I saved the old carb just in case....Total time (and it was my first time doing this).. Less than 30 minutes!...The NEW carb seems to be built better than the original. The RPMS are consistent and after shutting down, restart was a breeze...Only drawback with the kit is they only sent two spring camps. They send you plenty of hose, BUT once you cut it to install the included clear filter, you need to have two more...The old ones are too old and aggravating to salvage from the original carb. I'll get two more tommorow and install the filter!. OVERALL, LIFE should be this easy!
