new part # replaces 191-2312, genuine article, fits and works as expected. Too bad the black power wire into the unit has no accessible connector, could have saved over an hour on R & R of generator, but once it's out, the starter is an easy swap.

fixed the problem I had.
I have a 1999 Itasca RV with an Cummins/Onan 4000 watt Microlite genset. My starter stopped working to start the generator because the Nylon gear had worn the gear teeth off so the starter turned but wouldn't turn the engine to start. I wanted a quality replacement starter and this one is exactly that. I had to remove the genset to make the replacement but it was not exceedingly difficult since I have tools and a workspace. Now I have complete confidence in starting my genset!

Felt confident ordering an OEM part.
I know there are cheaper units out there, but with all the hassle of removing the darn thing I'm hoping the OEM lasts longer. Here is a tip, if your starter solenoid shorts and has your generator is continuously trying to start. After you replace the solenoid, replace the starter. Pretty sure all that cranking killed it.

No packaging or warranty information included
This part fits and works in my Onan 4000 generator. I paid the premium price for this as it was listed as an OEM part. It came in a plastic bag marked "ready to ship" without any OEM packaging or warranty information. The label was a simple block text without any logo's. Is it OEM or Gray Market? THE PHOTO is the OLD FAILED STARTER - the motor would spin and the gear bound up and was ground off where it contacts the flywheel - this new part resolved the issue.
