Dremel DigiLab 3D40 Flex 3D Printer w/Extra Supplies, 30 Lesson Plans, Professional Development Course, Flexible Build Plate, Automated 9-Point Leveling, PC & MAC OS, Chromebook, iPad Compatible

I purchased the Dremel 3D40 EDU Printer for my classroom. I am a middle school science teacher and robotics coach and my students are always involved in design challenges. I was a bit selective picking the right 3D printer because of the cost and the fact that I had no experience with one. I had taken a professional development course facilitated by NASA personnel and found designing on Tinkercad so engaging. Watching the designs printing out on the machine was quite amazing. We were told at the workshop that 3D print design will be the wave of the future and that it will be a normal part of households in the near future. We were also introduced to a free online Future Engineers Challenge where children could submit their own 3D designs for tools that astronauts might need in space. They actually have a 3D printer on the space station now! This was the final straw that convinced me to dive in!As a novice, I wanted a machine that was reliable and one in which I would be supported. I have found Dremel has not failed me in either department. In fact, in the very beginning, I did have some issues with clogged extruder that could not be remedied with some quick fixes and the support team arranged for me to mail back the unit free of charge. They returned it quickly and in good working order. I have not had any problems since.I have called support and used their online chats to help with questions I had about printing and they have always been very patient and helpful. They even offer a free online training for teachers with the EDU model which I did at the start of my journey. Dremel also provides lessons for the classroom but I have not gone that route yet. Rather, we have been using various design challenges to inspire our creations and prints.I know there is the new 3D45 machine with heated plate that uses different printing mediums now and machines that can print in multiple colors and things of that nature. Perhaps in the future we can add these to our lab. But I still feel the 3D40 is a good startup machine. It is a cool blue color with a clear door to allow for safe viewing while a print is in progress. It is easy to use. The spools are affordable and do hold a good amount. We did get a nice printer cart to keep the materials together which I feel is very useful.If you are a teacher or a parent thinking about this for your class or family, I can say that it is evident the children are having a blast with this new technology and are engaged in their learning. We even showcase the children's work on Science Nights and those who attend are always in awe of what the children are able to do with their imaginations, some design basics and the Dremel printer!

I was super excited for this 3D printer to use as part of our homeschool. We were able to print about 3 different things before it got clogged the first month we got it. I had to take the whole thing apart and replace the extruder, which still didn't work properly even after going through their customer service. I don't have time to be fixing this printer constantly. To me, it's not worth it's price for the headaches it has given me and precious time I lost trying to fix it. I am at a loss as to what to do with it.

I bought the 3D40 EDU Printer for my school district and I've never used a better 3d printer for the cost. Many other printers take a long time to set up and figure how to use but the Dremel is super easy, and worry free. I've been using it solid for months and it has only clogged once and was easily clean with the provided tool. I really haven't had to worry about anything and the prints are smooth, while the machine is extremely quiet. You can run it in a class and you would even interrupt anything. Highly recommend it for any Makerspace!

I love the ease of use with this printer! I have already went through two rolls of filament. The products loaded on the Dremel are fun to print. Also the thumb drive with the preloaded files MyStemkits.com files are great for the use in administering my STEM programming through my nonprofit Students Talking Out Problems Inc.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I recently got this 3D printer for use in my middle school classroom. I am brand new to the 3D printing world and didn't even know what questions to ask, or anything about the 3D printing world. The 3D40 is amazingly quiet (see video) and comes with a decent set of simply chess pieces and other demo 3D objects. The EDU files are comprehensive and seem like they could easily be adapted into a classroom; though, I am more likely just to use the 3D objects that came with them in my own lessons.Overall, I am very happy with my product so far and I absolutely love that this is a "tool" and not a "project" that I have to figure out and maintain. I have high hopes for the future.

This printer is the best, and most user friendly 3D printer I have used. It print very quick and it's easy to use right out of the box. You can open the box and be printing in minutes. I 100% recommend this printer.

3d40-EDUpros: solid printer, good prints, easy leveling, wireless LAN, good slicercons: Account activation link points to unreachable website. Even tried with google plus with a different e-mail still the same. So I can't connect to cloud services and print from anywhere. App has been discontinued for cloud.Overpriced filaments.200$ value 4hours course code does not work. Contacted support about it. They gave me a new code and it still doesn't work. Then they told me to input it at the END of the online course to get the certificate. Look... your online course is LOCKED, and I'm trying to access it with the code you gave me directly but still fails.Too much hassle I give up.
