My boyfriend was not taking good care of his cats when I met him. He bought them for his kids. He would buy the two cats the cheapest food; one of the cats had a predilection to being very active and hyper while the other was less active and blew up like a cow. The rotund one seemed to be sensitive to the ingredients in cheap cat foods, swelling up and staying sluggish and lethargic all the time. He did not seem like a happy creature, just a very tired, bored one. I researched a bunch of methods to help indoor cats lose weight. My friend who had owned cats for years recommended this food, but said it was a bit expensive. I convinced my boyfriend to split the costs with me, alternating turns buying bags when we ran out and we were able to get the food. In total we spend $120.00 per year feeding 2 cats. $120 split in half is $5 per month for each of us, which I think is doable. So if the cats are a family effort, I believe that the cost is worth it.The cat lost a lot of weight. He was able to climb down the stairs safely without falling. He was also able to easily jump on the cat tree we bought them. After two weeks of the food it was like night and day. He would walk around, play with his brother cat (pick on him a little too), and play with cat toys. These were activities he never engaged in before.. At that time the weight loss wasn't noticeable but the cat's change in disposition wasclear.After two months the weight loss was apparent. After four months he was so lean compared to his original size. Both the cats coats became shiner. He is still not the weight of a normal cat 1 year later but he is making great progress...I mean he weighed 30 pounds to start off. He is about 17 pounds now.Not to mention they LOVE the food and never turn up their noses to it! They couldn't wait to eat the first time I brought it out of the bag.Now we have two happy, healthy cats!

This is very good quality dry cat food. I put my cats on it years ago and noticed healthier results with all 4. They love it. No waste and no throw ups!!!

My cat absolutely loves this food! He used to be very picky and would turn his nose up at other brands, but with Hill’s Perfect Weight he finishes every bowl. The best part is that it actually works — he has slimmed down noticeably since switching, and he seems more energetic too. Highly recommend for overweight cats!

My cats are so finicky. They barely even like cat food but they love this food. I'd recommend this for anyone with cats they don't like most foods. Also my boy is a very big orange tabby and he needs weight control. This brand has so many different types of food and I buy them all.

Cats like it, appears to be helping an overweight cat, but a bit on the pricey side.

My cat Derpy has been with me for 6 years now and for many of those years had a very high metabolism. So high I could go without measuring her food and she still stayed very thin all the time, she was a naturally thin and super energetic cat. But I didn’t take into consideration that she’d get older, and eventually that metabolism would slow down. I thought she was just getting older and like most old cats just gain weight and that was normal, but I found a Reddit with veterinarian info that told me many cats brought in are overweight and it’s a big problem for them. Derpy becoming overweight was my fault. I should have paid more attention and by the time I realized my mistake poor Derpy got so fat that she couldn’t clean her downstairs region anymore. She became a stinky cat, and I would have to buy cat wipes to clean the regions she couldn’t reach, even resorting to baths if it got too bad. Her attitude got sour. She hated when I cleaned her, and I paid dearly in scratches. I knew I had to fix this and began doing research online. I looked at the reviews for this dry food and decided to give it a shot. My first purchase was at the beginning of December 2019. It took a month to switch over completely. I followed the instructions on the bag and fed her according to the instructions. It’s now the beginning of July 2020, and Derpy is back to the weight she used to be and she can clean herself again! No more cat wipes and uncomfortable bath times! No more stinky cat! No more sour attitude! She’s back to normal and it’s great. Bonus points: I also noticed her poops became more regular and much easier to scoop out of the cat box.Not only that, but my older black cat Pooky (who was forced to switch over to the diet food too because they share bowls), has also dropped some pounds and became more energetic than I’ve ever seen her before in my life. She is much, much older than Derpy and I always thought she was just the definition of an old lazy cat, but when she dropped the pounds she now wants to play and run and have a great time! Her fur coat got a nice healthy shine to it too! She looks so fancy and regal now. I can’t thank the Hill’s Science Diet company enough, my cats are healthy and happy again. I learned a valuable pet lesson as well. I will always follow the instructions on the bag when I feed my cats.

This diet was recommended by my veterinarian after my Tucker was considered to be overweight. Tucker transitioned to this kibble without issue and he absolutely LOVES this flavor! This make my heart happy and his tummy full of a better formula!
