5-Star Cage Liner Material: Superb Absorbency!
Update: (1/10/21) I am still using the pads I made for my guinea pigs cages nearly a year ago and they’re still working just fine! I also made pads for my sister (who has 5 guinea pigs,) and hers are holding up nicely as well! I stand behind everything I said about this material, it’s great, no complaints!I started using absorbent U-Haul blankets as fabric for making liners for my guinea pigs cage around 6 months ago and I couldn’t be happier with how they have held up! The fabric is very thick, (something like a 1/8in thick mixture of wool and felt,) but I was able to easily cut it with a sharp rotary cutter according to my pattern and use my sewing machine (equipped with a heavy-duty needle) to sew it into the inner layer of the cage liner, (with an outer layer of fleece on either side; 3 layers in all.) So far the liners have performed better than I even could’ve imagined for the cost; the amount of absorbency this fabric has is really amazing! Even when completely soaked they somehow stay fairly dry to the touch and never drip liquid.Once fleece is “wicked” liquid passes right through it and is instantly absorbed (and held) by the U-Haul pad. I have 3 guinea pigs and I only need to vacuum and turn my pads over every 3-4 days, (then wash/dry on the 7th day,) and the cage is completely dry, even on day seven! My guinea pigs have never had any problems with their bodies or feet being wet, (aka Bumble foot.)I have saved a LOT of money using these cage liners too. I used to spend at least $10/week on paper bedding material but was able to make 4 sets of cage liners out of just one U-Haul blanket with the generous amount of fabric you get. I read about this fabric on several different online forums for small-animal owners and they all agreed that U-Haul sells the best absorbent fabric available, (and at a great cost to boot!) They also said that the cheaper fabric just isn’t as good and you don’t need the pricier stuff when U-Hauls fabric is just as good! This fabric is thick, but easy to work with too, (as far as cutting and machine sewing goes,) and it holds up over time; I’ve been washing it every week for 6 months now and it’s still going strong and performing just as good as when it was new. It’s also quite easy to wash and doesn’t take forever to get totally dry, (like the cheaper fabrics.) It doesn’t need any special care or wash/dry cycle either.Bottom line: I always keep this fabric on hand now and will be lining all of my cage accessories (that need to be absorbent) with this fabric from now on! When I started this project I considered using other materials, but I’m so glad I didn’t! I’ve even started making liners for my friends and family that own animals, (mostly dog/cat beds and cage liners for mice/hamsters/guinea pigs/etc.) and those have all worked out perfectly too!Oh and I also want to mention that I was NOT paid to write this review. It’s rare to find a product that isn't insanely overpriced but still does what it claims to these days, and I believe in giving credit where it’s due!-Thank you U-Haul!

Love!
This is perfect if you’re making liners for any of your small animals. They are very absorbent. I’ve never had any issues with the liners I make, and you get so much fabric from this pack!

Works for Guinea pig liners
I make my own Guinea Pig cage liners and this works great for the middle absorbent layer. I’ve used mine for a few years and my liners are still going strong!

Great product
It works very well for a Guinea pig liner. Made 3 liners and a bunch of pee pads. And it was good price.

Love it
I love using these Uhaul blankets as guinea pig bedding liners under fleece blankets. They really absorb well and are reusable. Also, I like that the material is recycled and have no reactions to it. Also, it's sturdy, been using it for a few years now. Thank you!
