do the spare driver bits fit in either the knife or the case or would that be something that you would have to carry loosly in your pocket?

Can not be placed in the knife, you can put it in the carrying case.

How do i undo safety lock? My hands hurt trying to move it and it won't budge do I need to take the screw out?

If you are referring to the lock for th pliers feature, there is a small lever to move- but it's usually stiff and hard to move. (Which is great resistance to accidentally opening) in order to move the lever, squeeze the handle ,that would pop out, and the safety moves easily. My problem with the multitool was the one hand opening of knife...it just doesn't fit right in my hand for this feature
