Xbox One Controller tips
With the help of 8bitdo's support I was able to get this working properly after I started off with issues. Here are some tips for others who might have the same problems I had.#1: Make sure you have a Bluetooth-supported Xbox One controller. If it's a wireless model, and the plastic area surrounding the "Xbox guide" button is the same color as the rest of the face of the controller, you have a Bluetooth enabled controller. If the plastic area surrounding the "Xbox guide" button matches the color of the top of the controller (L/R and LT/RT bumpers and triggers), you have an older model that does not support Bluetooth.#2: Update the firmware of the 8bitdo wireless adapter. I recommend you avoid the "Firmware updater" tool and instead get the correct firmware directly installed by going to support dot 8bitdo dot com, then click "Firmware" then click the download link next to the newest version of firmware for this adapter (under Retro Receiver / USB Adapter section). In order to put the 8bitdo wireless adapter into a mode where it will accept a firmware update, you need to FIRST hold down the sync button at the end of it (the only button there is), and while holding that button, put it into a free USB port on your computer, and when it starts flashing GREEN, you can let go. Once you correctly run the firmware updater in the zip file (extract it first), you may need to unplug and plug it back in.#3: Update the firmware on your Xbox One Controller. You unfortunately NEED to do this using either an Xbox One or a Windows 10 PC. Go to the Windows Store and download an app called "Xbox Accessories". Plug in your controller using a USB cable and it will take you through the firmware update process.#4: Set the mode properly. For Windows, you will want to use either X-Input mode (more modern, Microsoft preferred), or D-Input mode (wider adoption, recommended for emulators). Here's how to set the mode. (SELECT is the button with two boxes overlaying each other located just to the bottom-left of the Xbox Guide button):X-Input: press and hold SELECT + UP for 3 seconds.D-Input: press and hold SELECT + LEFT for 3 seconds.Hope this helps you - my issue was #3. Once I got it working it did exactly what I wanted it to do - wireless gaming on Windows 7. I wish they had kept the button mappings the same as a wired Xbox One controller, but that's negligible.

Some hiccups at first but overall a great adapter.
Some hiccups at first but works great now. I was able to connect my PS4 controller to the classic, change the regions back to NTSC instead of PAL using only this adapter and a PS4 controller, and games are so much better to play. Some things that I’ve ran into and that I’ve heard other people having issues with:1) When I initially paired my PS4 controller to the adapter, none of the hot keys worked (ps button for reset, button combo for emulator settings) or the classic would say “unable to recognize controller”. I fixed this by disconnecting the PS4, controller, using a paper clip to hit the rest button on the back of the controller, and reconnecting it to the adapter. It’s been fine and haven’t had that issue ever since.2) A mouse cursor appears over some menu and games. If I see it, it always disappears for the rest of the time I have the PlayStation on if I unplug the adapter and plug it back it. I’m assuming they’ll prob fix this in a firmware update for the adapter so not a big deal.Overall if you’re considering this for your classic, I’d say it’s well worth the money, made the classic much more playable.

Almost Perfect with a MAJOR flaw
I have trusted 8Bitdo to make high quality gaming peripherals many times and they have never disappointed, including with this device. I used it to hook up my WiiU Pro controllers to my Switch that have desperately needed some use. After ironing out quirks with installing firmware updates, syncing my controller, and sleeping the console, everything works perfectly. The joysticks have analog inputs, buttons are mapped correctly, and I don't miss the rumble (too much).***However, the oversight of not being able to plug two of these adapters into the front of the dock or at least one inside the dock may be a huge deal-breaker to some people. To achieve this involves a USB extension cable that has a thinner plug, which will make the whole setup unwieldy.***Despite this, as a single unit the device works exactly as intended and you will not be disappointed by its compatibility and ease of use. I'd recommend it to anyone that wants to save a bit of money by using their leftover WiiU Pro controllers.
