Taste of home
I’m from Cheyenne Wyoming but moved to Iowa 2 years ago. If you don’t live in Wyoming, you won’t see these in the grocery stores in IA like you do in WY. So the fact that I found it on amazing brings me a little taste of home. I use to go to the Chugwater chili cook off every year and this little nostalgia makes me feel one step closer to my home state. Very easy recipe to follow. You can’t mess it up. I like to add some Italian sausage to mine and customize it a little.

Easy….Easy….Easy
Over four decades I’ve continually tried to make “The Best Chili”. For many years I have used the Box with five packets of seasoning. (There are other secrets to my Chili), but all have been happy with the five packets. Well, this “Chugwater Chili Seasoning” is “The Bomb”. For 3 lbs of meat I simply used 4 1/2 Tablespoons of “Chugwater Chili Mix”. EASY!!! My recipe + 4 1/2 tablespoons of “Chugwater Seasoning” added to the 3lbs of browned hamburger meat. What’s so good about Chugwater? Here’s a few thoughts: Warm Heat Level, Not Hot - Flavor that is Awesome!!! - No Timing for Packets…Brown the Meat & Onions, Drain, add a can of Tomato Sauce + One Can of Water then add the Chugwater & let it simmer. (In my recipe I also add the Best Tomato Juice that I can find). I add Three Cans of Petite Diced Tomatoes + one Can of Mild Ro-tel. Then let it Simmer for 30 minutes. I add Three Cans of Small Red Chili Beans + One Can of Kidney Chili Beans & bring it back up to “Almost” a boil. Turn the heat off & seat the top….My fellow “Chili Connoisseurs”, You Are Done!!! We serve our Children, Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren & they Loved the “Chugwater Recipe”. Comments like: Dad, I believe this is The Best Chili you have Ever Made!!! Can be used for many dishes!
This is the best chili mix, ever. It’s such a nice balance of flavors for so many dishes besides chili. We love it in burgers, tacos and sprinkled on chicken & ribs. The fact that’s it’s a small family run Business is a bonus.

wonderful chili
I have used this product for several years and it makes wonderful chili. My family likes mild chili so I simply use a little bit less of the product. I follow the easy chili directions on the side of the container. I add 1 extra can of pinto beans because I prefer it with more beans. My family likes the chili in a bowl over fritos and topped with grated cheddar cheese.

More salt than spices
I'm a big chili fan, so when I saw this I took a chance. The spice is a nice mix of a couple different peppers, plus salt and granulated onion/garlic. As a spice to add to soups, omelets, or anything else you can think of, it's dead easy, although I would note that the salt content is pretty high. If you plan to add it on top of something, I wouldn't recommend salting the dish.The flavor is warm and lasting instead of hot. This isn't the kind of chili mix where you can add more to make it hotter (IMO), because it doesn't really work that way. If you want it hotter, add some cayenne, ground habanero, or anything you have. Also, adding more Chugwater will make it very salty.Which brings me to the area that I think Chugwater let me down. Adding salt is fine, but I think it would be great if they could come up with a no-salt option so I can use it as a spice instead of adding more salt. A hotter version would be a winner as well.Overall, I enjoyed this, but ultimately I gave it to my mother because she loves salt, and I don't. The salt made the difference, not the spices.4/5*

Not sure what this stuff is.
It's not bad, it's just doesn't taste like any chilli I've ever had. Half this and half regular chilli powder, with red pepper seems to be a decent balance. Nothing I'll buy again.Works better as a base for taco seasoning IMO.
